Northern Alberta wins second straight Midget Prep Championship

PENTICTON, B.C. – A five-point effort off the stick of Matthew Savoie (St. Albert, AB) paced the Northern Alberta Xtreme to an 11-1 win over OHA Edmonton in the 2019 Canadian Sport School Hockey League Midget Prep Division Championship Game.

Savoie scored once and setup four others, while Dylan Guenther (Edmonton, AB) finished with two goals and two assists as Northern Alberta opened up leads of 6-1 after 20 minutes and 9-1 going into the final frame.

The win gives Northern Alberta back-to-back Midget Prep Division Championships, becoming the first team do accomplish that feat since 2015.

Lucas Ciona (Edmonton, AB) scored twice and added an assist, while Zac Ostapchuk (St. Albert, AB), Logan Lorenz (Consort, AB), Raphael Pelletier (Legal, AB), Max Mazur (Calgary, AB), Kye Whillans (Grande Prairie, AB) and Carter Spenst (Valleyview, AB) rounded out the scoring.

Ty Marcinkowski (Camrose, AB) recorded the win between the pipes, stopping 19 shots along the way.

Josh Medernach (Lloydminster, AB) had the lone goal for OHA Edmonton.
