Game Day Recap: December 19, 2021

South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 (2) Female Prep

SAHA took a 1-0 lead just 4:53 into the game on Alyssa McCasey’s first goal of the 2021/22 season. Ayah Salem would respond just under 10 minutes later to bring the first period to a close tied at one. Paige Ring would score the eventual game winner with 3:45 left in the second period, giving NAX a 2-1 win and weekend sweep over SAHA. Hyoseo Cheon made 17 saves for her second win of the weekend. Devyn Amundson stopped 17 of 19 for SAHA in the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy (4) vs St. George’s School (0) U18 Prep

Harrison Meneghin stopped all 35 shots he faced and Bailey Ewonus (1G,1A), Noah Gibbons (1G,1A) and Alexander Sandhu (2G) scored for Delta in a 4-0 win over St. George’s. Nicholas Domingo stopped 27 of 30 in net for St. George’s. 

OHA Edmonton (4) vs Edge School (5/OT) U15

Edge scored 31 seconds apart early in the first but Brady Whitehead (2G) would respond with two of his own as the first ended tied at two. Owen Cooper (1G,1A) would score the lone second period goal for Edge, but Parker Fitzgerald and Nolan Schmidt would score for OHA Edmonton as the third ended with a 4-4 tie. Cruz Pavao (2G) scored his second of the game 2:23 into overtime to give Edge the 5-4 win. 

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U15 Prep

Zachary Larmour, Hayden Harsanyi and Lukas Kaplan (2G,1A) all scored for NAX in the first as they opened up to a 3-0 lead. Hunter Yee would score the lone second period goal, and Gavyn Poyser would score early in the third to bring OHA Edmonton within one, but Kaplan would net his second of the game to secure the NAX victory. Jordan Switzer (24/26) earned the win for NAX.
