Former Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) student-athletes Eli Barnett and Jackson Krill have committed to the University of Vermont for the 2023/24 season.
A defensemen from Ottawa, ON, Barnett played the 2017/18 U15 Prep season with the Notre Dame Hounds. In 29 games he would record 4 goals and 3 assists.
An 11th round, 188th overall selection by the Quebec Remparts at the 2019 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Draft, Barnett would join the South Shore Lumberjacks for the 2020/21 Maritime Junior Hockey League (MJAHL) season where he would tally 6 points in 22 games.
Krill spent three seasons in the CSSHL originally joining the league in 2017/18 with the West Van Academy U15 team. That season the Port Moody, BC product would record 15 points in 27 games. He would join the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy U15 Prep team in 2018/19, finishing fourth in team scoring with 28 points in 29 games.
2019/20 would be Krill’s last season in the CSSHL as he played for the BWC Academy U16 Prep team. In 34 games Krill would lead his team with 31 assists while finishing second in team scoring with 45 points.
The University of Vermont is an NCAA Division I school located in Burlington, Vermont. The team competes in the Hockey East conference.
