Zellweger Inks NHL Contract

The Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Olen Zellweger to an NHL Entry Level contract.

Zellweger was selected by the Ducks in the second round with the 34th overall pick at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

The Fort Saskatchewan, AB defenseman currently plays in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Everett Silvertips. The Silvertips selected Zellweger in the second round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and he has gone on to record 25 points in 70 WHL games.

Prior to his WHL career, Zellweger played in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) for OHA Edmonton, winning a U15 Prep CSSHL Championship in 2017/18. He would play the following season for their U18 Prep team, before making the jump to the WHL. In 75 CSSHL regular season and playoff games Zellweger recorded 68 points.

Internationally, Zellweger has represented Team Canada twice, including winning gold at the 2021 U18 World Championships.

Zellweger was one of four OHA Edmonton defensemen, and six skaters, selected at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
