The Medicine Hat Tigers have signed a trio of Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) teammates to Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements.
The Tigers selected Liam and Markus Ruck in the first round of the 2023 WHL Draft, with Liam going 9th overall and Markus 21st.
The twins would join OHA in 2020/21 playing for their U15 team. That season Liam would record 22 points in 9 games while Markus finished with 19 points in 9 games.
The following year the Osoyoos, BC forwards would play for the OHA U15 Prep team with Markus capturing CSSHL U15 Prep Most Sportsmanlike honours having recorded 32 points in 30 games with just 2 penalty minutes. Liam would finish with 34 points in 29 games.
This season Liam would lead all U15 Prep skaters with 53 goals and 90 points in 27 games while committing just 3 penalties to earn the CSSHL U15 Prep Most Sportsmanlike Award. Markus would finish with 87 points including a division best 65 assists.
Riley Steen joined the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) in 2021/22 with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (PCHA) U15 Prep team where he would record 19 points in 30 games.
This season the Ladysmith, BC defenseman would finish with 36 points in 26 games with the OHA U15 Prep team. The Tigers would select Steen in the sixth round, 127th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.
