Senators Lock Up Second Rounder

The Ottawa Senators have signed their 2021 second round pick Zack Ostapchuk to a National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Level Contract.

The Senators selected Ostapchuk in the second round, 39th overall at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The forward has spent the last two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Vancouver Giants, recording 24 points in 66 games.

Originally from St. Albert, Alberta, Ostapchuk was drafted by the Giants in the first round, 12th overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

Ostapchuk spent two seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with the Northern Alberta Xtreme. In 2017/18 he would tally 45 points in 30 games with their U15 Prep team. He would join their U18 Prep team the following year, finishing with 28 points in 31 games as the Xtreme won a CSSHL U18 Prep League Championship.
