Pilot Mound Hockey Academy student athlete Heaven Moneyas has been named the 2019 Manitoba Aboriginal Athlete of the Year by the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council (MASRC).
Each year, one Aboriginal male and one Aboriginal female athlete are selected to receive the Manitoba Aboriginal Athlete Awards. They are selected from nominations detailing: their positive role in sports and the community; their personal commitment to athletic development; achievements in sport; and their concern for holistic development.
Moneyas, 17, appeared in 19 games during the 2019-20 CSSHL regular season with the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Female Varsity team. She recorded seven wins, a 3.82 goals-against average and three shutouts.
