Former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) forward Ethan Mercer has committed to MacEwan University for the 2023/24 season.
Mercer spent the 2019/20 Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) U18 Prep season with NAX. In 36 games the Slave Lake, AB forward recorded 17 goals and 14 assists.
In 2021/22 Mercer would join the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s (AJHL) Brooks Bandits, recording 11 points in 34 regular season games. He would add one point in six playoff games as Brooks captured an AJHL Championship.
Mercer began the 2022/23 AJHL season with the Olds Grizzlys, tallying four points in 17 games. He would finish the season in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Flin Flon Bombers, tallying 15 points in 28 games. He would add 9 points in 16 playoff games with Flin Flon.
