In the first game of the 2023/24 Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) season Calgary International Hockey Academy (CIHA) defeated Edge School Gold 11-4 in a U17 Prep matchup.

Calgary Hitmen prospect Easton LaPlante (1G, 3A) would score the first goal of the CSSHL season on the power play just 1:20 into the game as CIHA grabbed an early lead. But Jack Coghlan (1G, 2A) would respond for CIHA just 12 seconds later and Milford would score another power play goal to give his team a 4-1 lead. A Hudson Getzlaf goal with nine seconds left in the opening period gave Edge life heading into the second.

Keegan Bailey (1G, 1A) would bring Edge within one midway through the second but goals from Lachlan Hanton (1G, 1A) and Brendan Rudolph (1G, 1A) would see CIHA lead 6-3 after 40.

Oliver Kramp (1G, 2A) and Noah Kelly would trade early third period goals before CIHA scored four unanswered to see the final score end as 11-4 in favour of the home team.

Cole Prelusky (41/45) made 41 save in net for CIHA to earn his first win of the season.
