BWC’s Wang off to Fort McMurray

Canadian Sport School Hockey League student athlete Brendan Wang has signed with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

Wang, 18, has attended the BWC Academy the past three seasons, the last two of which he competed on their U18 Prep team, tallying 73 points (16-57-73) in 71 games, while being named a finalist for the CSSHL U18 Prep Division’s Top Defenceman both seasons.

During the 2017-18 season, the Burnaby, BC product registered 19 points (4-15-19) in 33 games with the BWC U16 Prep team.

Off the ice, Wang excels in the classroom, being named to the CSSHL’s U18 Prep Division All-Academic Team in 2019 and 2020, as well as the CSSHL’s U16 Prep Division All-Academic Team in 2018. The 5-foot-11 defenceman was also named the CSSHL’s 2019 WHL Scholastic Athlete of the Year.

Outside of academics and athletics, Wang is also an accomplished pianist who had the opportunity to play at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City.
