Bruggen-Cate commits to St. Francis Xavier University

Canadian Sport School Hockey League alum Conner Bruggen-Cate has committed to attend and play USports hockey at St. Francis Xavier University beginning next season.

Bruggen-Cate, 20, attended the Yale Hockey Academy during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, compiling 33 points (13-20-33) in 48 career games with their U18 Prep team.

Drafted by the Kelowna Rockets in the sixth round, 121st overall, at the 2014 WHL Draft, the Langley, B.C. product would go on to spend parts of four seasons with the Rockets, before completing his WHL career with the Seattle Thunderbirds this past season.

In 262 regular season games in the WHL, the six-foot-two forward netted 105 points (40-65-105), while also adding one goal in six post-season games.

Bruggen-Cate joins Matt Needham as CSSHL alums that will have attended and played for St. Francis Xavier University, which is located in Antigonish, N.S.
