Former Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) student-athlete Jaryd Sych will join Mercyhurst University for the 2023/24 NCAA Division I season.
Sych joined Pursuit of Excellence (POE) for the 2016/17 U15 season, recording 5 points in 25 games. In 2017/18 the Airdie, AB defenseman would play for the Notre Dame U15 Prep team, finishing with 2 points in 19 games.
In 2020/21 Sych would make the jump to junior in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Notre Dame Hounds. He would find the offensive side of his game in 2021/22, recording 35 points in 58 games while being named to the SJHL All-Rookie Team. This season he would set a career high 37 points in 46 SJHL games.
Located in Erie, PA, Mercyhurst University plays in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) Conference.
