Former Edge School student-athlete Freddie Halyk has committed to the University of Denver for the 2023/24 season.
Halyk spent the 2018/19 Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) season with the Edge School U16 Prep team. In 19 games the Cochrane, AB netminder recorded an 8-6-4 record with 1 shutout, 3.28 GAA and .901 SV%.
In 2021/22 he would join the Lloydminster Bobcats in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) posting a 3.66 GAA and .905 SV% in 17 games. He would start this season with the Bobcats, posting a 3.37 GAA, and .906 SV% in 20 games before joining the Camrose Kodiaks.
In 20 games with the Kodiaks this season Halyk finished with an 11-8-0 record, 2 shutouts, 2.63 GAA and .915 SV%.
