GAME DAY RECAP: November 19, 2023

Ontario Hockey Academy Gold (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (4) U18 Eastern U18

A strong second period was the difference maker in this Eastern affair. OHO would outshoot OHA Gold 17-5 in the second period. Addison St. Cyr (2G) would benefit on two of those shots, potting their first two goals of the season. Moritz Trebo (1G, 1A) would add another for OHO in the third where they would hold on to their three goal lead. OHA Gold would press late with two goals in the final minute of play, but would come up just short.

North Shore Warriors Orange (12) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy Navy (5) U17 Prep

North Shore Orange would sweep CDA Navy in their visit to Coeur d’Alene, picking up their third win in a row in commanding fashion. Finlay Reed (4G, 3A) would lead the way for NSW Orange, scoring a natural hat-trick in the first period. Team captain Christopher Mah (2G, 3A) would also contribute heavily in the lopsided victory. In fact, nine North Shore Orange skaters picked up multiple point efforts in the morning affair.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy White (6) U17 Prep

Red Deer-native Brayden Howe (3G, 1A) led the offensive charge for PCHA White with a hat-trick performance while his linemate Ryan Christenson (1G, 3A) chipped in a four-point effort as well. Ander Reyes (41/43) also put in some work between the pipes to let PCHA White comfortably ride to victory.  

Delta Hockey Academy Green (4/SO) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U17 Prep

Shawnigan would score twice early to establish a presence in Sunday’s matchup, but Delta Green would quickly match that with two goals within 52-seconds from Max Malinousky (1G, 2A) and Nathan Gray. Nathaniel Danielson (1G, 1A) would bury one for Delta Green come the second period to give them the lead. However, Shawnigan’s Nolan Blankstein (1G, 1A) would find twine in the latter end of the third to force overtime and eventually a shootout. Otto Spofforth would score in the shootout’s opening attempt which would ultimately be the deciding factor. 

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Edge School (8) U18 Prep

Owen Cooper (2G, 3A) and Cruz Pavao (2G, 2A) were firing all cylinders in this Sunday showdown. Landon DuPont (2G, 1A) and Zach Olsen (3A) would also be main contributors in this offensive showcase over RHA Winnipeg. A total of 71-shots were fired on Erie Otters prospect Chase Furlong (63/71), turning aside 26-shots alone in the third period in the hard fought defeat.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (6) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (2) Female U18 Prep

After coming just short vs. NAX Saturday evening, SAHA supplied the offence this time around. Keira Grant (1G, 2A) kicked things off with a first period marker while Addison Eurich (1G, 2A) and Kenzie Carson (2G, 1A) provided two more in the second. SAHA would add another three in the third period, trading two with NAX. Tayler Cohen (36/38) made 36-saves to put the cherry on top in an impressive rematch.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (9) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Kadyn O’Brien (3G, 1A), Tucker Robertson (1G, 3A) and Bradley Schmidt (1G, 3A) all recorded four point games to give OHA a 9-5 win. Preston Peterson (2G, 2A) added four points for CDA and Jackson Rendall (3A) had three assists in the loss. Kaleb Blatz (29/34) was in net for the win.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs North Shore Warriors (0) Female U18 Prep

Jorja Moore (23/23) made 23 saves to earn her second shutout and fifth win of the season. Kailey Wrigglesworth (1G, 1A) scored the eventual game winner 6:30 into the first and Taylor Bierlmeier (1G, 1A) added an empty net goal with 37 seconds remaining. Hyoseo Cheon (51/52) made 51 saves in the loss. 

STAR Hockey Academy (7) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U15

Ronin Brunner  (2G, 1A) and Daniel Makovetskiy (2G, 1A) each scored twice and added an assist while Bannen Clements (26/30) made 26 saves as STAR defeated North Shore 7-4. Kenzo Gibson (2G, 1A) added three points of his own in the loss. Owen Hurlbut (29/35) was charged with the loss. 

Yale Hockey Academy (8) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy Blue (4) U17 Prep

Yale fired 62 shots at Braxton Becker (54/62) en route to an 8-4 win. Ryker Swanson (3G) recorded a hat-trick while Kyounghun Oh (3A) and Jayden Oleskiw (3A) each tallied three assists in the win. Elliott Hill (1G, 2A) and Parson Shahi (1G, 2A) each had a goal and an assist in the loss. Jason Ho (39/43) picked up his fifth win of the season. 

BWC Academy Gold (4) vs St. George’s School (5/SO) U17 Prep

Colton Gerrior opened the scoring just 18 seconds in but a Lucas Benn goal saw the first period end tied 1-1. Logan Lepinski and William Ren (1G, 1A) would give BWC Academy Gold the lead before Sam Auld (1G, 1A) brought St. George’s within 1 31 seconds later and Brenden Morgan tied the game. But Javien Mann (1G, 1A) would regain the BWC Academy Gold lead just 41 seconds later. A Minsuk Hou third period tally forced OT and eventually a shootout where a London Taylor goal in the fourth round completed the St. Geroge’s comeback. 

Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs Edge School Gold (3) U17 Prep

Lachlan Hanton and Noah Milford scored less than three minutes apart to give CIHA a 2-0 lead after 20. Luke Jamieson would get Edge Gold on the board early in the second but Mason Moran (1G, 1A) responded for CIHA 48 seconds later. Gabriel Iervella and Ethan Elefante traded late second period goals, while Dylan Deets and Zee Jamal did the same in the third. 

Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U18 Prep

Eli McKamey (1G, 1A) and Matthew Jackson found the back of the net in the first to give Shawnigan a 2-0 lead. Brendyn Van Oene extended the lead 5:55 into the second. A Jovan Sandhu goal gave Delta life and Burke Newton brought them within one but Mathis Perron (30/32) shut the door in the third to secure a SLS win. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (6) U17 Prep

Kallum Windigo (1G, 1A) and Daine Thomas (3G) scored 38 seconds apart as ISA led 2-0 after 20. Tanner Demarais-Corrigal would extend the lead early in the second before Ryder Stimson got PMHA on the board. But Thomas would score twice more in the second and Dontae Bear (1G, 1A) would add an early third period goal as ISA secured a 6-2 win. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) U18 Prep

Liam Ruck (1G, 1A) scored 20 seconds in as part of a four goal first period for OHA. Royce Butler (2G, 1A) and Max Jackson would score in the second as CDA climbed within two. Butler would add a late third period goal but it was all-for-nothing as Mathis Preston’s (4G, 1A) two goal third period gave him four in the game and OHA a 6-3 win. 

North Shore Warriors (6) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

Shane Purves (3G, 2A) recorded a hat-trick and five points as North Shore defeated Pacific Coast 6-4 Sunday afternoon. Owen Brennan (1G, 1A), Nicholas Morin and Liam Payne scored the other NSW goals in the win. Noah Kosick (2A) and Jordan Ramsay (2A) each had two assists in the loss. 

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs St. George’s School (1) U18 Prep

Yale improved to 7-1-0 with a 4-1 win over St. George’s (5-5-0) Sunday. Eli Barrett and Logan Flint scored first period goals and Alexandre Jacques and Levi Benson scored early in the second as Yale led 4-0. Liam Magnuson would get St. George’s on the board in the second, ending the Nathan Kam (22/23) shutout bid. Austin Ball (45/49) made 45 saves in the loss.
