GAME DAY RECAP: March 12, 2024

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (1) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (10) Female U18 Prep Consolation

Ava Helm (2G), and Kiyra Kletzel (2G, 2A) each scored twice while Addison Eurich (1G, 2A), Brianna Finke (3A), and Marley Howes (1G, 2A) chipped in with three points as SAHA defeated OHA Black 10-1. Sophia Makokis scored the games opening goal as OHA Black initially led 1-0 before the 10 unanswered SAHA goals. Maddy Ferguson (26/27) made 26 saves in the win. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) vs North Shore Warriors (4) Female U18 Prep Consolation

Avery Wilson (2G) scored twice to open the game and Jaylah Bottle added her first of the Consolation Playoffs as North Shore led 3-0 after 20. After a scoreless second, Emily Gerdevich scored shorthanded with 37 seconds left as North Shore held a commanding 4-0 lead. Julia Schoonbaert ruined the Hyoseo Cheon (35/36) shutout bid just four seconds later, scoring a power play goal. Brooklynn Adams (34/38) made 34 shots in the loss. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (7) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep Consolation

Luke Pratte (3G) opened the scoring 1:15 in but Gavin Noseworthy (2G, 1A) tied the game 59 seconds later. Maddox Ramage (2G) gave PMHA the lead 3:04 later as they led going into the second. Pratte tied the game 5:23 into the second with his sixth goal of the Consolation bracket before PMHA scored three straight in the second. Haze Helle (1G, 1A) and Ramage scored 40 seconds apart and Chase MacDonald (1G, 1A) added a late power play goal. Noseworthy extended the lead in the third before Pratte completed the hat-trick. Forrest Karlson (1G, 1A) scored 13 seconds later to round out the scoring. 

RHA Winnipeg (3) vs Edge School (5) U15 Prep Semi-Final

Max George (1G, 1A) and Drayden Uhrina (1G, 1A) scored late in the first as RHA Winnipeg led 2-0 after 20. Matthew Hilderman (1G, 1A) got Edge on the board midway through the second with a power play goal. Nathan Cole (1G, 1A) tied the game minutes later before Jake Ritson (1G, 2A) restored the lead going into the third. Brock England (1G, 1A) tied the game with a deflection in front and Adam Halat (1G, 1A) scored 19 seconds later to put Edge ahead. Joaquin Geras extended the lead 57 seconds later with a point shot through traffic. Carsten Leyerzapf (36/39) finished with 36 saves to secure the Edge victory and give his team a spot in the finals. 

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep Consolation

Tyson Jeske (2G) and Beau Tilden scored first period goals as PCHA led 2-0. Carson Peet and Ellis Thurmeier scored within the first five minutes of the second period to tie the game. Channon Fummerton (2G) restored the PCHA lead midway through the middle frame. Jeske and Fummerton added late third period goals as PCHA secured a 5-2 win over their Vancouver Island rivals. Lynden Mercier (28/30) made 28 saves in the win. 

St. George’s School (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) U15 Prep Semi-Final

NAX scored 32 seconds in and held a 3-0 lead just 3:08 in as they defeated St. George’s 9-0 in semi-final play. Ben Harvey (3G, 2A) and Jaggar John (3G, 1A) each recorded a hat-trick while Blake Chorney (1G, 2A), Thayne Wasyluk (3A) and Kanye Wright (3A) all had three points. Cam Hoose (37/37) made 37 saves for the shutout. 

Edge School (0) vs Shawnigan Lake School (4) Female U18 Prep Semi-Final

Zoe Cramer opened the scoring with her second of the Championships and Grace Cooper (1G, 2A) extended the lead with a shorthanded tally. Mya Lawrence scored eight minutes into the second and Meera Smith scored just three minutes later as Shawnigan held a commanding 4-0 lead. Alexandra Nelson (15/15) and Alexis Ehrman (37/41) kept clean sheets in the third as the game ultimately ended 4-0 in favour of Shawnigan. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (0) vs RHA Kelowna (5) Female U18 Prep Semi-Final

Makena Lloyd-Howe opened the scoring 9:54 into the first period with the only goal RHA Kelowna would need to secure the win. Kennedy Sisson, and Emelia McDermid added second period insurance markers while Sage Babey and Jordan Blouin (1G, 1A) did the same in the third. Farah Walker (26/26) made 26 saves for her second shutout of the playoffs. Maisie Cope (43/48) made 43 saves in the loss. 

North Shore Warriors (1) vs RHA Kelowna (3) U15

James Koch scored the opening goal 12:10 into the first period. Aiden Andrews (2G) scored twice in a span of three minutes early in the second as RHA Kelowna pulled ahead 2-1. Miller Watkins added a power play goal with 1:43 left to play and Felix Rossignol (28/29) made 28 saves to secure the RHA Kelowna victory in the first game of the U15 Western Championships. 

BWC Academy (4) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15

A goal from Kaedyn Scherer gave OHA Edmonton the lead 1:21 into the first. But BWC Academy led 2-1 after 20 as Ashwin Manhas and Zack Jones (2G) scored 29 seconds apart. Tucker Porter tied the game with the lone goal in the second period. Dominic Allegretto scored the go-ahead goal 2:16 into the first, finding the back of the net on the power play. Joel Ngandu (1G, 2A) briefly tied the game before Jones scored his second of the night late in the period to give BWC Academy the 4-3 win. Tyce Kinsey (33/36) and Taylor Green (38/42) were in net for their respective teams.
