GAME DAY RECAP: March 1, 2024

Mount Academy (7) vs Ontario Hockey Academy White (1) Eastern U17 Prep

Nolan Mason scored on the power play 3:17 in as OHA Gold grabbed an early 1-0 lead. However, the lead was short lived as Shane Delamaire (2G, 1A) tied the game 54 seconds later as Mount would score 7 unanswered goals. Jacob MacMillan-Dallai (2G, 1A) gave Mount the lead late in the first and Ethan Arsenault (1G, 2A) added a power play marker 48 seconds later. Delamaire scored the lone second period goal with Cogan Leblanc (1G, 2A), Henri Colin David Frenette (1G, 1A), and MacMillan-Dallai scoring in the third. Matthew Evancusky (17/18) made 17 saves for the win. 

OHA Edmonton (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) U15

Ahmad Fayad (2G, 1A), Kalen Miles (2G, 1A) and Bronsyn Mouille (2G, 1A) each scored twice and added an assist as NAX defeated OHA Edmonton 9-0. Kaysun Brunham, Brady Ondrus (1G, 1A) and Luka Samu (1G, 1A) scored the other NAX goals while Tyson Moreland (9/9) made just nine saves for his fifth shutout of the year. Adrian Ferro (46/55) faced 55 shots in the loss. 

Ontario Hockey Academy Gold (1) vs Mount Academy (8) Eastern U18

Brandon Gauthier (1G, 1A) scored the lone first period goal with 1:53 left. Mederic Allard  (1G, 1A) extended the lead 1:02 into the second. Theodor Abercrombie beat Jason Tremblay (29/30) 5:31 into the second to get OHA Gold on the board and within one. But Mount countered with six unanswered as Matthew Hebert (1G, 1A) and Anthony Molloy scored in the second and Lucas Achim, Alex Culligan, and Jesse Gauthier (1G, 2A) scored in the third. Jesse Nuccio (40/48) made 40 saves in the loss. 

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Edge School (4) U18 Prep

Leim Smith and Owen Cooper (2G) scored 2:38 apart in the first half of the opening period to give Edge a 2-0 lead. Hunter Yee got OHA Edmonton onto the board just under six minutes later with his ninth goal of the season. Mitch DeCoste tied the game with 1:56 remaining in the second period. Evan Auld scored the go-ahead goal for Edge 2:09 into the third and Copper added an insurance marker shortly after. 

RHA Kelowna Black (7) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U17 Prep

Kiran Fedun (1G, 1A) and Reid Rabinovitch (2G, 1A) scored in the first, Dylan Cwaley, Ryder Mead and Julian Galenza (1G, 1A) in the second, and Soren Brons-Douville and Rabinovitch in the third as RHA Kelowna Black defeated North Shore 7-0. Sartaj Dhami (11/11) made 11 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. David Payne (40/47) faced 47 shots in the loss. Aidan Fisher (4A) led all skaters with four points. 

North Shore Warriors (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (5) Female U18 Prep

Molly Cole (1G, 1A) scored 1:05 into the game, setting the tone for a four goal first period for Delta Green. Madison Batch scored 3:14 later while Breigh Rank (2G, 1A) and Scarlett Jones added late first period tallies. Rank hit double-digit goals on the season with the lone second period marker. Kaida Okamura ended the Jillian Matthews (19/20) shutout bid with 31 seconds remaining. Amy McLeod (42/47) was charged with the loss. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Yale Hockey Academy (9) U15

Jaxen McFegan (4G, 1A) and Maxx Trites (1G, 4A) each had five point games as Yale defeated PCHA 9-2. Dylan Khakh (3A) and Matteo Zenone (1G, 3A) chipped in with three assists each and Nevin Connor (39/41) made 39 saves in net for the win. Dane Dyer and Trent Porter scored for PCHA while Shay Van Slyke (39/48) was charged with the loss. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme White (3) vs Edge School Maroon (7) U17 Prep

Luca Dufour (2G) and Jackson Roberts (2G, 1A) traded goals just 20 seconds apart as the game was tied 1-1 4:08 in. Brady Whitehead put NAX White on top 1:00 into the second but Eric Wagman countered 24 seconds later, Sebastien Conne-Correnti (1G, 2A) scored 1:12 later and Dufour added his second of the game midway through the second. Roberts brought NAX White back within two but Jeff Niehaus (1G, 1A) and Edge Maroon once again had an answer, responding 47 seconds later. Nick Wytrychowski and Noah Aldred each added late goals for Edge Maroon as they earned a 7-3 win. Brooke Davis (42/45) earned the win with a 42 save effort. Taylor Raynard (24/30) made 24 saves in the loss. 

St. George’s School (10) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15 Prep

Byron Chin (3G, 2A) and Jacob Schwartz (1G, 4A) led the St. George’s offence to a 10-1 win over PCHA. Brock Cripps (3A), Jason Gao (2G, 1A) and Kain Martinuik (1G, 2A) each had three points while Cash Christie (22/23) made 22 saves in the win. Treytin Frizzell scored the lone goal for PCHA in the loss. 

Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs Shawnigan Lake School (4) U15 Prep

Matthew Morris (2G, 1A) scored 16 seconds into the game to give Shawnigan an early lead. Shaun Hildebrandt (2G, 2A) and Lucas Fenrich (1G, 1A) scored 49 seconds apart and Gavin Bradley (1G, 1A) added a goal five minutes later as Yale pulled ahead 3-1. But Shawnigan tied the game going into the second as Morris and Cache Thomas scored 54 seconds apart. Rocklen Stordy gave Yale the lead 1:12 into the second before Darwin Ketch (1G, 2A) and Ollie Reid (1G, 3A) traded power play goals. Hildebrandt extended the lead 34 seconds into the third and Jacob Dumansky (1G, 3A) found the back of the net for the 21st time late in the period as Yale won 7-4. Tyson Kuiack (12/16) and Donagh Esler-Twiss (58/65) were in net for their respective teams. 

RHA Kelowna (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) U15

RHA Kelowna opened the game with fireworks as Kaius Millan (1G, 2A) scored just five seconds in. Kyler Stocks (1G, 3A) extended the lead midway through the first. Cole Morley (2G) extended the lead 51 seconds into the second and added a late period goal as RHA Kelowna took a commanding 4-0 lead. Dreyden Rayburn got OHA on the board with 22 seconds left in the second period. Aiden Andrews restored the RHA Kelowna four goal lead early in the third but OHA refused to go down without a fight as Caiden Osiowy-Mah (1G, 1A), and Nathan Marques (2G) brought them within one. Bronson Lamontagne secured the RHA Kelowna victory with 1:44 left to play, scoring his 16th goal of the season. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) vs Edge School (3/SO) Female U18 Prep

After a scoreless first, Jorja Dezainde opened the scoring 14:15 into the second. Marin Jugnauth extended the lead 4:03 later. Brianna Finke got SAHA on the board 11:03 into the third and Addison Eurich tied the game with 24 seconds left to force overtime. After OT solved nothing, Hannah Dech scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give Edge a 3-2 win. Alexis Ehrman (42/44) and Tayler Cohen (28/30) were in net for their respective teams. 

RHA Winnipeg (2/OT) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep

Lola Parkinson opened the scoring with a first period tally. Sheigh Siemens tied the game with a power play goal 3:06 into the second period. After Bailey Schwartz (14/15) and Alex Mills (45/47) kept clean sheets in the third, the game headed to overtime tied 1-1. In OT Rowyn Street (1G, 1A) scored her 21st goal of the season 2:55 in to give RHA Winnipeg the 2-1 win. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (4/OT) vs RHA Kelowna (3) U15 Prep

Forward Carson Smith hit double-digit goals on the season as he opened the scoring for OHA 9:47 into the game. Mathis Paull tied the game less than seven minutes later. Kesler Hamilton (1G, 1A) gave RHA Kelowna the lead with a power play goal 1:04 into the second. Tristan Hoko (1G, 1A) responded with a power play goal of his own a little more than 10 minutes later. Jack Saxton restored the RHA Kelowna lead 3:46 into the third but it was short lived as Linkin Stadnek tied the game 3:13 later. Stadnek gave OHA a 4-3 win with an overtime tally 2:26 into the extra frame. Linden Sobocan (19/22) made 19 saves for the win. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Trace Langan opened the scoring for PHA just 2:11 into the game. SAHA responded in the back half of the period with goals from Wyatt Yule (1G, 1A) and Drew Williamson (2G, 1A). Wyatt Dreger scored shorthanded 1:50 into the second to tie the game 2-2. Cash Olson restored the lead with the eventual game winner just four minutes later and Josh Evaschesen (1G, 2A) and Williamson scored 30 seconds apart in the third as SAHA grabbed a 5-2 win. Marek Schlenker (23/25) and Gibson Horne (30/35) were in net for their respective teams. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (5/SO) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (4) Female U18 Prep

Grace Littler (2G) opened the scoring 4:50 in with a power play goal for OHA. Gabriella Lee (2G) and Emma Biros (2G, 1A) responded for Delta Black with goals less than two minutes apart. Lee scored the lone second period goal to extend the Delta Black lead going into the third. Littler scored just seven seconds into the third to bring her team within one. Biros restored the two goal lead with a power play tally 10:44 into the period. Tiani Makokis (2G, 2A) would score short handed just 32 seconds later before adding a power play goal with 21 seconds left to play to tie the game and force OT. After overtime solved nothing, Brooklyn Blomquist and Makokis each scored in the shootout as OHA completed the comeback and earned a 5-4 victory. 

Delta Hockey Academy Black (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (10) U17 Prep

Landon Nagle (3G, 1A) and Maxx Parfitt (3G) each recorded hat-tricks while defenseman William Pattison (4A) recorded four assists to lift OHA Black to a 10-4 win over Delta Black. Nicholas Campbell (2G, 1A) and Kaydin Halladay (1G, 2A) each had three points for Delta Black in the loss. Charlie Peppinck (26/30) and Jake Poblete (24/34) were the goalies on record. 

Shawnigan Lake School (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (6) U17 Prep

Lucas Lima (3G, 1A) scored twice in a span of 51 seconds as Delta Green grabbed a 2-0 first period advantage. Nathaniel Danielson (2G, 2A) scored 46 seconds into the second and Lima completed the hat-trick midway through the period before Ethan Naus finally got Shawnigan on the board late in the second. Danielson and Chayton Basanti (1G, 1A) scored 1:44 apart in the third to round out the scoring and give Delta Green a 6-1 win. Ashton Thornton (17/18) earned the win with a 17 save outing. Will Stonehouse (38/44) faced 44 shots in the loss. 

North Shore Warriors Orange (3) vs BWC Academy White (5) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first Dominic Seminoff (1G, 1A) scored 2:00 into the second. Colby Shumak countered 2:24 later and North Shore Orange pulled ahead on a Graeson Miller goal 9:435 into the period. Dane Svingen-Jones would tie the game and Gabriel Kaminski (3G) gave BWC Academy White the lead going into the third. Marcus Voth tied the game with his fourth goal of the season 1:51 into the third but Kaminski scored back-to-back goals to complete the hat-trick and secure a 5-3 win for his team. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) vs RHA Kelowna (0) U18 Prep

Conner Nicolson (24/24) made 24 saves for his first shutout of the 2023/24 season as OHA defeated RHA Kelowna 5-0. Mathis Preston scored with 1:21 left in the first to give OHA a 1-0 lead. Hudson Closson extended the lead with a power play goal 7:51 into the second. David Hoy’s 92G) ninth of the season 24 seconds later put OHA ahead 3-0. Charlie Grant and Hoy both hit double digit goals on the season late in the third period. Steele Bass (36/41) made 36 saves in the loss.
