GAME DAY RECAP: February 1, 2024

King Heights Academy U18 (6) vs CIH Academy Green U18 (10) Eastern U18

Jeremy Bessette and Colin Leen each scored within the first 54 seconds as CIH Green raced off to an early 5-0 lead 9:03 into the game. Another five goal second period saw CIH Green up 10-4 after 40 before Connor Whittaker (2G) and Vytas Lenkutis (2G, 3A) added third period goals for KHA. Nikita Schneider (2G, 2A) and Neil Iserhoff (2G, 2A) led the way for CIH Green with two goals each.

Mount Academy U18 (3/OT) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Prep (2) Eastern U18

Lucas Achim scored his ninth goal of the season 3:05 into the game to give Mount a 1-0 lead. Marcus Fjeld countered 5:26 later for OHA Prep as the first period ended tied 1-1. Mavrik Chan-Miguel (1G, 1A) scored the lone second period goal to give OHA Prep their first lead of the game but Matthew Hebert scored late in the third to tie the game. An OHA Prep penalty with 10 seconds left in regulation gave Mount a power play in overtime where Loic Luder scored 26 seconds in to give Mount the 3-2 victory. Elliot Boulianne (27/29) and Oliver Kiraly (32/35) were in net for their respective teams. 

Fort Erie International Academy U18 (2) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Gold (3/SO) Eastern U18

Fort Erie led 1-0 after 20 thanks to a John Adlys goal late in the first. Vincenzo Di Rocco tied the game early in the second and Keegan Fox (1G, 1A) scored his first of the year to give OHA Gold the lead. Ethan Butler tied the game shortly after and Ryan Schultz (29/31) and Hakon Eskeland (25/27) kept the score even through regulation and overtime. Thorvald Naess scored in the fifth round of the shootout to give OHA Gold the 3-2 victory. 

Fairmont Hockey (3) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4/OT) U17 Prep

Brady Witkin (2G) and Max Dowse traded first period goals as the opening game of the U17 Prep Winnipeg showcase was tied 1-1 after 20. Ethan Gobel scored 2:49 into the second but Carter Haney’s (1G, 1A) 18th of the season tied the game once again. Witkin scored on the power play late in the third but a Rory Dewar goal with just two seconds left forced overtime. In OT it was an Aiden Jacobson (1G, 1A) power play goal that gave RHA Winnipeg the come-from-behind 4-3 win. Asher Wold (29/33) and Chase Charriere (47/50) were in net for their respective teams. 

Edge School (7) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U15 Prep

Edge took advantage of the NAX bus legs in the first as Luke Jamieson, Aden Bouchard (2G, 1A), Jordin St. Louis (1G, 1A) and Adam Halat (1G, 1A) all scored. Ben Harvey (2G) woke NAX up 3:50 into the second with his 12th goal of the season. Brock England (1G, 1A) and Matthew Hilderman (1G, 3A) pushed the Edge lead to 6-1 before Harvey scored his second of the game to close out the period. NAX made a push in the third with goals from Jaggar John and Memphis Adeniken but Bouchard put the game to bed less than two minutes later. Carsten Leyerzapf (26/30) made 26 saves for the win. Oliver Bryks (41/48) faced 48 shots in the loss.
