Game Day Recap: December 17, 2021

Delta Hockey Academy (3/OT) vs St. George’s School (2) U15

Sachin Sidhu got the scoring started just 22 seconds into the game as St. George’s would grab an early lead. But with just eight seconds remaining in the period, Nathan Barclay would score his fourth of the season to tie the game. Nathaniel Danielson (2G) would score the lone second period goal, while Armaan Ali’s late third period tally would tie the game and force overtime. In OT Danielson would score his second of the game to give Delta a 3-2 win. Dylan Karan (29/31) picked up the win for Delta, while Kyle Taylor stopped 42 of 45 in the loss. 

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) U15 Prep

NAX maintained their division best win percentage (0.923) with a 7-2 victory over OHA Edmonton. NAX scored 3 goals in the first 4:08 of the game and held a 4-0 lead just 10:25 into the opening frame. Landen McFadden (2G) would score back to back goals for OHA Edmonton to end the first and start the second, but Hayden Harsanyi (1G,2A) would halt the run with a late second period marker. Liam Bursaw (2G,1A), Dawson Butler (1G,2A), and Lukas Kaplan (1G,2A) all recorded three points and Jordan Switzer stopped 23 of 25 in the NAX win. 

BWC Academy (8) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep

Tied at three heading into the third, BWC Academy would score five goals in the final frame to grab an 8-4 win. Jack Bakker (3G) recorded a hattrick while Ashton Beriana (1G,2A) and Benjamin Kindel (1G,2A) each had three points in the win. Nathan Kam made 34 saves to hand Yale their first regulation loss of the season and move BWC Academy into sole possession of first place. Braeden Cootes (1G,1A) led the way offensively for Yale. 

Edge School (3/OT) vs RINK Winnipeg (2) U16 Prep

Jordan Murray (1G,1A) opened the scoring 2:44 into the first to give RHA Winnipeg a 1-0 lead that would hold until Nolan DuPont scored 3:34 into the third. Oscar Lovsin (2G) would score less than four minutes later to give Edge their first lead, but a Gavin Nemis goal with 8:54 remaining in the period would tie the game and force OT. In overtime Lovsin would score his second of the game to give Edge a 3-2 victory. Brenner Fyfe (30/32) earned the win, while Ethan Simcoe (51/54) was in net for RHA Winnipeg in the loss. 

Edge School (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U18 Prep

Alex Scheiwiller (26/27) and Noah Davis (26/28) kept the game scoreless through two before Mason Hartley (2G) opened the scoring 8:08 into the third. It would take Edge just 13 seconds to tie the game on a Tim Tychonick goal but a Hartley goal four minutes later would give NAX a 2-1 lead. A late NAX penalty and a goalie pull would give Edge a 6 on 4 opportunity to tie the game, but Lucas Schuett would score a shorthanded empty netter with 1:33 remaining. Another NAX penalty with 56 seconds left would give Edge another 6 on 4 opportunity to tie the game, but NAX would once again score a shorthanded empty net goal when Layne Loomer found the back of the net with 29 seconds remaining. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 (4) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) U18 Female Prep

Janaya Laqua gave SAHA a 1-0 lead 11:46 into the game but NAX would go on to score four straight to earn a 4-1 win. Julia Birmingham, Kori Paterson (1G,1A), Alle Isley (1G,1A) and Keirsen Kobi all scored for NAX in the win. In her first game of the season, Hyoseo Cheon made 17 saves to earn her first career CSSHL win. Maddy Ferguson stopped 30 of 34 in net for SAHA.
