GAME DAY RECAP: December 14-15, 2023

Notre Dame (3) vs RHA Winnipeg (5) U15 Prep

Joey Jackson opened the scoring but Max George responded for RHA Winnipeg with a short handed goal. Luke White and Will Parsons scored less than three minutes apart midway through the game as Notre Dame took a 3-1 lead heading into the third. Drayden Uhrina brought RHA Winnipeg within one 2:44 into the third with his 12th goal of the season. Anthony Bedard (1G, 1A) tied the game with his ninth of the season before Isaac Sousa (2G) scored twice in a span of six seconds to complete the comeback and give RHA Winnipeg a 5-3 win. Wyatt Jones (2A) and Jake Ritson (2A) each had two assists in the win. 

Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme Blue (1) U17 Prep

Jake MacDonald opened the scoring 4:30 into the first with his 9th goal of the season as NAX Blue led 1-0 after 20. But it was all CIHA from there as they scored five unanswered and Cole Prelusky (27/28) made 27 saves for the win. Hunter Kelso (1G, 1A) and Gabriel Iervella (2G) scored second period tallies. Iervell, Lachlan Hanton and Noah Milford added third period markers. Mason Moran (3A) and Brendan Rudolph (3A) each had three assists in the win. 

Bourget College (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (5/SO) Eastern U18

Emil Obstfelder (3G) opened the scoring for OHO just 25 seconds in. Olivier Belanger countered for Bourget less than three minutes later but Mavrick Boucher’s (1G, 1A) sixth of the season gave OHO the lead heading into the second. Bourget opened the second with three straight goals as Antoine Demers, Marc-Antoine Riopel (1G, 1A) and Krystopher Roy (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net. Obstfelder brought OHO within 1 just 13 seconds later before tying the game with a power play marker 4:42 into the third. After a scoreless OT, Nick Iosif (33/37) stopped all six Bourget shooters and Addison St. Cyr scored the game winning goal for OHO in the sixth round of the shootout. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) U15 Prep

Isaac Sousa (1G, 1A) opened the scoring 1:19 in with his 16th goal of the season. In the second, Jake Ritson (2G, 1A) scored his eighth and Drayden Uhrina (2G, 2A) scored twice as RHA Winnipeg led 4-0 after 40. Ethan Grant would finally break through for PHA scoring 2:02 into the third period. Ritson and Cohen Lewko (1G, 1A) added insurance markers for RHA Winnipeg in the 6-1 win. Tate Barnaby (12/13) made 12 saves in the win while Brady Robert (43/49) was tasked with facing 49 shots. 

Notre Dame Red (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme White (9) U17 Prep

Ty Swanson (24/24) made 24 saves for his second shutout of the season as NAX White defeated Notre Dame Red 9-0. Defenseman Hubert Clarke (3G, 1A) tallied a hat-trick while Gavin Faul (2G, 3A) led all skaters with five points. Kasen Harrold (2G, 1A) and Reese Hicks (2G, 1A) each scored twice while Tristen Bailey (3A) added three assists. Ethan Suhr (47/56) made 47 saves in the loss. 

North Shore Warriors (3) vs St. George’s School (4) U18 Prep

Louie Sim scored his fifth goal of the season to give St. George’s a 1-0 first period lead. Liam Magnuson and Simon Ward (1G, 1A) extended the lead in the second period before Dylan Ruff and Tae Kim scored less than two minutes apart to bring North Shore within one heading into the third. Connor Pankratz (1G, 1A) scored the eventual game winner 6:59 into the third period. Liam Payne (1G, 1A) scored his 14th of the season to bring North Shore within one late in the third but Austin Ball (35/38) denied them of an equaliser. Erik Powers (32/36) made 32 saves in the loss. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) vs St. Mary’s Academy Female (3) U18 Prep

A busy end of the first period saw Chiara Wilson and Addison Kartusch score for St. Mary’s while Brianna Finke and Keyana Bert countered for SAHA. Kiera Grant scored the lone second period goal as SAHA led 3-2 after 40. Mia Faseruk (1G, 1A) tied the game just 12 seconds into the final period but Addison Eurich’s (1G, 1A) fifth goal of the season secured a 4-3 SAHA victory. Tayler Cohen (24/27) picked-up the win while Keyauna Robinson-Prefontaine (24/28) was in net for the loss. 

BWC Academy (3) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U15

Zack Jones 92G) opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season but Kenzo Gibson (2G, 1A) and Conor Nicolson (2G, 1A) countered for North Shore. Dominic Allegretto briefly tied the game in the second before Nicolson scored 35 seconds later. This lead too was brief as Jones once again tied the game just nine seconds later. Gibson would score his 21st of the season 1:17 after that as North Shore held a 4-3 lead after a crazy second period frenzy. Ashton Sims (45/48) would keep BWC Academy off the board the rest of the way to secure a NSW 4-3 win. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U15 Prep

Cole Landreville (2G) opened the scoring just 12 seconds in but OHA Edmonton responded with goals from Domonic Neville (1G, 2A) and Kolton Ferguson (3G). Landreville would find the back of the net late in the first to tie the game heading into the second. Ferguson scored his second of the year to restore the OHA Edmonton lead before Chase MacDonald briefly tied the game with a power play marker. Ferguson would respond 1:09 later and Cash Brebant (1G, 2A) extended the lead heading into the third. Jihwan Kim increased the advantage and Walker Filewich scored with 8 seconds left as OHA Edmonton defeated PMHA 7-3. Cole Chorostkowski (21/24) made 21 saves for the win. 

Edge School (6) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) Female U18 Prep

April Klarenbach (2G, 2A) and Sydney Stibbard (2G) each scored their fifth goal of the season as the first period ended tied 1-1. Stibbard gave RHA Winnipeg the lead 11 seconds into the second period before Edge countered with 5 unanswered goals. Kara Mitenko (1G, 3A), Klarenbach, Samantha Baker and Olivia Imperato (2G, 2A) scored second period goals with Imperato adding a tally in the third. Alexis Ehrman (34/36) and Inhye Jang (45/51) were in net for their respective teams.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) Female U18 Prep

Megan Dolynchuk (1G, 3A) set the tone 42 seconds in en route to an 8-0 NAX win. Tallulah Cameron (2G, 1A) scored twice, Elise Slywka (3A) had three assists and Ava Antle (16/16) made 16 saves for the shutout. Madison Berven, Aspen Checknita (1G, 1A), Brooke Dolynchuk, Sawyer Mackay, and Kenda Shumaker (1G, 2A) scored the other goals for NAX in the win. 

Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs Edge School (8) U15 Prep

Luke Jamieson opened the scoring for Edge 1:06 into the game. Aiden Wagner replied for NAX 3:22 later before Adam Halat (1G, 1A) restored the Edge lead. Reeve Waugh extended the lead before Blake Chorney (1G, 1A) brought NAX back within one. James Matheos (1G, 1A) and Brock England (1G, 1A) would go on to score for Edge 24 seconds apart midway through the second. Affiliate Kyle Denis would strike again for NAX but Kaden Mote (1G, 2A) countered for Edge. Mirco Dufour and Declan Cardiff (1G, 1A) added third period goals as Edge defeated NAX 8-3. 

Delta Hockey Academy Green (11) vs BWC Academy (5) U15 Prep

Daniel Harvard (2G), Caden Leibel (2G, 1A), Jack Morgan (2G, 1A) and Treyce Pavlic (2G, 2A) all scored twice as Delta Green defeated BWC Academy 11-5. Dylan Hurren (1G, 1A), Maxum Pyatt and Kishan Saggu (1G, 2A) scored the other goals in the win. Julian Revel (2G, 1A) led BWC Academy skaters with three points. Blake Clark (16/21) was in net for the win.
