Former CSSHL Netminder Signs with Rockets

Former Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) netminder Jari Kykkanen has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement (SPA) with the Kelowna Rockets after being selected in the sixth round, 115th overall, in the 2019 WHL Draft.

Kykkanen spent the 2020/21 COVID-19 shortened season with Yale Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep team. In 3 games the Lloydminster, AB goalie recorded a 2.92 Goals Against Average (GAA) and .842 Save Percentage (SV%).

He would make the jump to junior this season, suiting up for the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s (AJHL) Drayton Valley Thunder. In 7 games Kykkanen had a 3.23 GAA and .896 SV%.
