Filmon Signs NHL Contract with Devils

Josh Filmon has signed an NHL Entry Level Contract with the New Jersey Devils after they selected him in the sixth round, 166th overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Filmon spent three seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. The Winnipeg, MB forward joined the program in 2018/19 for the U15 Prep season. He would tally 28 points in 29 games while being selected in the fourth round, 67th overall by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2019 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

The following season Filmon would finish second on the RHA Winnipeg U16 Prep team with 40 points in 36 games. In 2020/21 Filmon would lead the RHA Winnipeg U18 Prep team with 14 points in just 4 games. He would also play 17 games for the Broncos, recording 2 goals.

In 2021/22 Filmon joined the Broncos full time, finishing with 45 points in 67 games while producing 1 point in 3 games for Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championships.

This season Filmon led all Broncos skaters with 47 goals and 75 points in 64 WHL games. Since signing his NHL Contract, Filmon has played two American Hockey League (AHL) games with the Utica Comets.
