The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Canadian Sport School Hockey League alum Carter Savoie of the Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL) has been named the recipient of its Top Rookie Award for the 2018-19 season.
Savoie, 17, attended the Northern Alberta Xtreme during the 2017-18 season, collecting 58 points (20-38-58) in 34 games with their Elite 15 team, as well as appearing one game with their Midget Prep team.
At the 2018 BDO CSSHL Championships, the St. Albert, Alta. product registered eight points (2-6-8) in five games, helping his team capture the 2018 CSSHL Elite 15 Championship.
This past season, Savoie joined the Crusaders, where he netted 73 points (31-42-73) in 58 regular season games, and nine points (2-7-9) in 12 post-season games.
