CSSHL announces two new members

The Canadian Sport School Hockey League today announced that the Board of Governors has approved the Mount Academy and Westlake Bourget College to begin play as Associate Members for the 2019-20 season.

“This is an exciting time for us as we continue to grow our operations in Eastern Canada,” said Kevin Goodwin, Chief Operating Officer of the CSSHL. “We were very impressed with both programs and we are excited for what they will bring to our new Eastern Conference.”

The two programs become the 26th and 27th members of the CSSHL and the sixth and seventh added to the CSSHL’s Eastern Conference for the 2019-20 season, joining the CIH Academy, Hill Academy, Newbridge Academy, Okanagan Hockey Ontario and Ontario Hockey Academy.

Based out of Charlottetown, PEI, the Mount Academy will field one U18 team in the CSSHL next season.

“Mount Academy is very pleased to be accepted as a member of the CSSHL. The CSSHL is a league that is recognized as national leaders in education-based hockey. We look forward to working with the league and its partners to continue to offer advanced opportunities to our student athletes.” – Kenny MacDougall, head of school/director of hockey at the Mount Academy.

Based out of Rigaud, QC, Westlake Bourget College will have one U18 team in the CSSHL next season.

“We are really excited to be starting this new program, and more-so to be in a position to work with such an amazing institution.  We know that the CSSHL has positioned themselves in a professional manner to encourage the development and visibility of the student-athletes, and thus we are thankful to be admitted into the league.  For us, the most important variable is the development of our student-athletes, and we feel that the CSSHL is a proper step in allowing us to achieve that in the arena of competition.” – Matthew Lombardi & Carl Michaelson, co-directors at Westlake Bourget College.

Full details and the schedule for the 2019-20 season will be released in the coming weeks.
