Hassan Akl has committed to NCAA Division III program Aurora University for the 2022/23 season.
The Chestermere, AB forward spent two seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with Edge School. He would join the league in 2016/17, recording 9 goals and 14 assists in 29 U16 Prep games. Akl would finish with 24 points in 35 games the following season with the Edge School U18 Prep team.
In 2018/19 Akl would make the jump to the Alberta Junio Hockey League (AJHL), recording 16 points in 43 games with the Drumheller Dragons. The following seasons Akl would play 17 AJHL games split between the Dragons and Calgary Canucks, eventually joining the Surrey Eagles in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
Akl would return to the AJHL in 2020/21 with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, finishing third in team scoring with 20 points in 14 games. After 29 points in 38 games with the Oil Barons to begin the 2021/22 season, Akl would join the Lloydminster Bobcats where he would score 3 goals and 19 assists in 20 games.
Aurora University is an NCAA Division III program located in Aurora, Illinois and competing in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Conference.
