GAME DAY RECAP: January 28, 2023

Mount Academy U16 (5 / SO)  vs CIH Academy U17 (4) Eastern U17

The game was back and forth throughout, as Koichiro Matsudaira scored a pair of goals for CIH Academy while Isiah Rodgerson responded with two goals for Mount Academy. Extra time was needed to determine a winner and after overtime solved nothing, both teams went to the shootout. In the shootout, Rodgerson scored the lone goal to give Mount Academy the win.

Prairie Hockey Academy (0)  vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (16) U15 Prep

Northern Alberta Xtreme remains undefeated this season, picking up their 21st straight win on Saturday. Nolan Stewart had six assists in the game, Maddox Rose had a five-point game with three goals and two assists, Knox Bendera notched a goal and four helpers, Aiden Jacobson and Brek Liske both scored twice and added two assists, while Tucker Tullikopf added a goal and three assists in the game. Parker Snell picked up his fourth shutout of the season, turning aside all 12 shots he faced between the pipes.

Indigenous Sports Academy (3) vs Notre Dame (5) U17 Prep

Gleb Ershov led the way offensively for Notre Dame, scoring two goals in the game, Oliver Christianson had a goal and an assist, as Talon Langston and Elliot Cantin added solo tallies to round it out. Sage Roberts, Rowen Albert and Daine Thomas responded with goals for Indigenous Sports Academy, but they’d fall short on Saturday afternoon. 

Shawnigan Lake School U18 (8) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy U17 (0) Female U18 Prep

Abby Whitworth registered a hat-trick and an assist for Shawnigan Lake School, Dawson Benson scored a goal and added two assists, and Mikayla Boarder had three helpers in the contest. Alex Nelson only needed to make 10 saves in the game to record the shutout and her fourth win in a row for Shawnigan Lake School. 

RHA Kelowna U18 (2/ OT) vs Delta Hockey Academy U18 Female (1) U18 Prep 

After a scoreless first period, both teams found the scoresheet in the second. Gracie Graham scored on the powerplay to give RINK Hockey Academy but it was quickly answered by Delta Hockey Academy, with a goal from Sarah Webster to tie the game. The third period was the same as the first, scoreless, so overtime was needed. 44-seconds into the extra frame, Ellie Chou scored her seventh of the season to win it for Delta. 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs RHA Winnipeg (7) U15 Prep

River Arnason had three assists and Tyler Wamboldt had two tallies for RINK Hockey Academy, while Shae Rollason, Daniel DeGagne, Sage Dela Cruz, Wyatt Kelman and Josh Shaganya all added a goal and assist each in the game. Chase Charriere turned aside 24 of 26 shots he faced to record the win between the pipes.

Ontario Hockey Academy U18 (4) vs King Heights Academy U18 (3)  Eastern U18

Se Young Lee picked up a pair of goals for Ontario Hockey Academy, including the game-winner early in the third period. Kristof Molnar and Carter Audit added solo tallies for the Mavericks. For King Heights Academy, Kane Poland, Aiden McQuaid and Joe Lax lit the lamp, but came up short in the end.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs International Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep

Both teams struck twice on the powerplay in the game, but three third period goals from Pilot Mound Hockey Academy proved to be the difference. Noa Halat and Kayden Big Plume found the back of the net on the powerplay for International Hockey Academy, while Sam Takahashi and Ryder Stimson (EN) added goals for Pilot Mound Hockey Academy.

St. George’s School (12) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep

Eli Barrett had a big game for St. George’s School with a seven point game, scoring two goals and adding five assists. Lucas Benn had five points registering a hat-trick and two helpers, while Harshaan Kaila had a two goal, two assist performance for the Saints. Roman Lavery scored twice for Pacific Coast Academy in the loss.

Mount Academy U18 Prep vs Bourget College U18 Eastern U18

Brandon Gauthier opened the scoring on the powerplay, notching his fourth of the season to give Mount Academy an early lead. However, three unanswered goals from Bourget College proved to be the difference. Alexis Methot scored his first, Gavin McLenaghan picked up his 11th of the season which held up as the game-winner and Marc-Antionne Riopel scored a short-handed goal into an empty net to seal it for Mount Academy.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) vs Edge School (1) U17 Prep

Northern Alberta Xtreme picked up their 24th win on the season with a win over Edge School on Saturday. Lukas Kaplan scored two goals and added an assist, while Andrew Thomson had three-points with a goal and two assists in the game. The lone goal for Edge was scored by Owen Mastroianni, as goaltender Jordan Switzer turned aside 31 of 32 shots to pick up the win between the pipes for NAX.

Delta Hockey Academy (6) vs RHA Kelowna (4) U15

Alexander Laing scored a goal and three assists for Delta Hockey Academy, who scored four goals in the first period. Treyce Pavlic scored twice and added an assist, while Caden Leibel added a tally and a helper for Delta. RHA Kelowna had contributions from Logan Arnold, who scored two goals, and Carter Bacon who had three points with a goal and two assists in the game.

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs Yale Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Alexandre Jacques had a pair of goals for Yale Hockey Academy in the win, while Lucas Biros, Dane Svingen-Jones and Jacob Morrison added solo tallies in the contest. Marcus Hughes led the way for Shawnigan Lake School in the loss with a three point performance, picking up a goal and two assists.

BWC Academy (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) U18 Prep

Peyton Mithmuangneua, Carter Lundie, Koji Gibson, Brogan Kennedy-Pilgaard and Ryder McIntosh all scored solo tallies for BWC Academy in the game. Presley Kerner had a three-point game for Okanagan Hockey Academy with a goal and two assists in the loss.

Notre Dame (1) vs OHA Edmonton (7)  U15 Prep

OHA Edmonton fired 65 shots on the Notre Dame net allowing just one goal-against in the contest. Jake MacDonald scored twice and Ben Shaw had a goal and three assists for OHAE, while Brady Whitehead, Nolan Schmidt, Calum Giese, notched a goal and an assist each. Rylan Daley added a solo tally to round out the scoring. Nathan Salisbury earned the decision in net, turning aside 19 of 20 shots he faced.

BWC Academy (0)  vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep

Jaeger Dostal scored both goals in the game for Okanagan Hockey Academy, both coming in the second period, while Seth Flett assisted on both goals. Landon Garbitt picked up his first shutout and sixth win of the season for OHA, making 37-saves.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2)  vs Notre Dame (7) U18 Prep

Charles Lamoureux had two goals in the game for Notre Dame, while Finn Carlstedt, Ivan Kulagin, Nick Karczmiarz had a goal and an assist each. Aaron Shanks and Justin Hooper scored solo tallies and Alexis Hilaire-Pinot added three assists for the Hounds. Devin Degenstein made 20 saves between the pipes for his second win of the season. 

RHA Kelowna (7) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U16 Prep

RHA Kelowna outshot PCHA 52-36 in a 7-1 win Saturday. Luca Cupello (1G, 2A), Julian Galenza (1G, 2A), Ryder Mead (3A), Teghan Mullin (3A) and Cole Serdachny (1G, 2A) all recorded three points in the win. Brayden Howe ended the Louis Gu (35/36) shutout bid 1:37 into the third. 

Ontario Hockey Academy Prep (2)  vs CIH Academy U18 (6) Eastern U18

OHA led 2-1 after 20 thanks to goals from Laurent Desorcy-Dupont and Noah Belles-Isles. But CIH would rattle off five unanswered Nikita Schneider, Sergei Kolesov (2G), Neil Iserhoff and Liam Lynn (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net. Thomas Sambroski (28/30) made 28 saves in the win. 

OHA Edmonton (4) vs Edge School (5/OT) U15

Nate Macdonald (2G), Ewan Gillis (1G, 1A) and Liam Morison all scored for OHA Edmonton as they held a 4-0 lead just 3:14 into the second. But Edge School would score five unanswered including a Nathan Cole (1G, 1A) overtime winner to complete the comeback. Braxton Gibson (25/29) made 25 saves in net for the win. 

OHA Edmonton (3) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep

Prairie scored the first five goals of the game including three in a span of 1:50 in the final minutes of the first period. Hunter Yee (2G) would get OHA Edmonton on the board in the second but Cameron Beisal (36/39) was able to secure a win for Prairie. Avery Johnson (3A) and Kierin Osberg (3G) each recorded three points in the win. 

Yale Hockey Academy (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep

Ethan Caruso (2G) would score twice and Jayden Oleskiw and Ryker Swanson would each find the back of the net once themselves as Yale led 4-0 midway through the second. Rhett Tubello would get OHA on the board but Olie Reid would respond for Yale just 47 seconds later. Mathis Preston would add his 29th of the season for OHA in the third but Carson Lang (11/13) needed to make just 11 saves for the win. 

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U15

OHA outshot Yale 34-26 but a 32 save performance from Aiden Lazazzera (32/34) gave Yale a 3-2 win. Rocko Stordy scored his first goal of the season just 14 seconds in before Cole Schellenberg tied the game midway through the first. Maxx Trites would regive Yale the led midway through the second and Adrian Comeau (1G, 1A) would build off it just five minutes later. Rylan Bengert would score for OHA in the third but they were unable to find the equaliser. 

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Notre Dame (9) U16 Prep

Carter Ellsworth (1G, 4A) led all skaters with five points while Calvin Gustafson (2G, 2A) and Alec Nasreddine (2G, 2A) each scored twice as Notre Dame defeated OHA Edmonton 9-2. Koen Gauthier (1G, 1A) and Kaden Wilkins scored the OHA Edmonton goals. Ben Chornomydz (22/24) made 22 saves in the win. 

North Shore Warriors (0) vs BWC Academy (8) U15 Prep

BWC Academy outshot North Shore 77-19 in an 8-0 win Friday. Kai Anderson (3G, 2A) scored a hattrick and led all skaters with five points. Jack Tudhope (1G, 3A) added four points and Jeevin Sandhu (19/19) made 19 saves for his second shutout of the season.

Delta Hockey Academy (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U18 Prep

Bennett Muller scored just 1:08 in for Delta but Brendan Hill responded just two minutes later for PCHA. However, Delta would lead 3-1 after 20 thanks to goals from Jakob Oreskovic (1G, 1A) and Linden Burrett (1G, 1A). Landon Mackie would score the lone second period goal for PCHA before Jack Sears (1G, 1A) scored the eventual game winner 6:23 into the third. Carter Degelman would get one more for PCHA but Brendan Gee (30/33) shut the door the rest of the way for Delta. 

North Shore Warriors (0) vs St. George’s School (10) U18 Prep

Jesse Fader (4A) led all skaters with four assists and Markus Lam (3G) recorded a hattrick as St. George’s defeated North Shore 10-0. Connor Pankratz (2G) and Zach Zapanta (2G, 1A) each scored twice in the win. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (6) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U18 Prep

OHA Edmonton would lead 3-1 after 20 thanks to goals from Landen McFadden (2G) and Julien Maze (1G, 1A). Kade Duell (2G, 1A) would score 46 seconds into the third to kickstart a SAHA comeback as they would score five unanswered for a 6-3 win. Gavin McKenna (2G, 3A) would lead all skaters with five points in the win and Zach Zahara (25/28) made 25 stops in the win. 

Yale Hockey Academy (3/SO) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U18 Prep

Cole Patterson opened the scoring for Shawnigan before Will Sharpe (1G, 1A) responded just minutes later for Yale. Chase Valliant would score the lone second period goal and Shawnigan would tie the game with just over two minutes remaining as Bryce Minten found the back of the net. After a scoreless overtime, Sharpe and Evan Smith would both score in the shootout and Ethan Eskit (46/48) would stop both Shawnigan shooters to give Yale a 3-2 win. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy U18 (1) vs Shawnigan Lake School U18 (2) Female U18 Prep

Anya Porter and Mikayla Boarder scored for Shawnigan and Lauren Mackay (28/29) made 28 saves as Shawnigan defeated OHA 2-1. Hanna Perrier scored the lone OHA goal and Farah Walker (32/34) made 32 saves in the loss. 

North Shore Warriors (5) vs BWC Academy (2) U16 Prep

Cody Lee (2G, 1A) scored two goals in a span of three minutes as North Shore led 2-0. Aidan Mark would get BWC Academy on the board near the end of the first and Jared Bigelow would score 43 seconds into the second to tie the game. But North Shore would respond with three in the first including two in a span of 20 seconds to secure a 5-2 win. Matteo Paradiso (1G, 2A) added three points in the win.
