10 CSSHL student athletes selected at QMJHL Draft

The 2020 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft concluded on Saturday as 10 current or former Canadian Sport School Hockey League student athletes were selected.

Evan Nause was selected in the first round, fifth overall, by the Quebec Remparts.

Nause, 17, appeared in seven games with the Notre Dame Hounds U15 Prep team during the 2017-18 season, before attending Newbridge Academy, where he had one assist in three games during CSSHL Eastern Showcase’s.

During the 2018-19 season, the Riverview, NB product posted 14 points (4-10-14) in 12 CSSHL Eastern Showcase games with Newbridge’s U18 Prep team.

This past season he played in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede, where he was named to the USHL All-Rookie Team.

Carter Murchison was selected in the third round, 43rd overall, by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

Murchison, 16, attended OHA Edmonton during the 2018-19 season, recording 28 points (10-18-28) in 28 games with their U15 Prep team.

The Hammonds Plains, NS product also collected three points (0-3-3) in four games during the 2019 BDO CSSHL Championships.

Duncan Ramsay was selected in the fourth round, 70th overall, by the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Ramsay, 16, attended the Mount Academy this past season, competing mainly on their U16 Prep team, where he had 11 points (1-10-11) in 15 CSSHL Showcase games.

The Halifax, NS product also appeared in five CSSHL regular season contests with Mount’s U18 Prep team.

Jake Tracey was selected in the sixth round, 99th overall, by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Tracey, 16, spent the 2018-19 season with the Notre Dame Hounds U15 Prep team, appearing in 14 games, while collecting 18 points (4-14-18).

The Lincoln, NB product also appeared in one game during 2019 BDO CSSHL Championships.

Owen Simmons was selected in the eighth round, 140th overall, by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Simmons, 15, is a three-year CSSHL student athlete, most recently attending Westlake Bourget College, where he posted 15 points (5-10-15) in 20 games with their U18 Prep team.

During the 2018-19 season, the Kelowna, BC product registered 12 points (2-10-12) in 29 games with the Okanagan Hockey Academy U15 Prep team, following a 17-point (8-9-17) season with Okanagan’s U15 team in 2017-18.

Jonah Jelley was selected in the eighth round, 142nd overall, by the Charlottetown Islanders.

Jelley, 16, registered 44 points (13-31-44) in 36 games with the Notre Dame Hounds U16 Prep team during the 2019-20 season, while also adding two assists in two games at the 2020 BDO CSSHL Championships.

During the 2018-19 season, the Moncton, NB product had 18 points (10-8-18) in 30 games with Notre Dame’s U15 Prep team, as well as nine points (8-1-9) in five post-season games.

Alex Arsenault was selected in the 10th round, 184th overall, by the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Arsenault, 17, appeared in 12 CSSHL Eastern Showcase games during the 2018-19 season with Newbridge Academy, collecting 10 points (4-6-10) along the way. During the 2017-18 season, the St. Charles, NB product registered four points (2-2-4) in six CSSHL Eastern Showcase games.

Tyler Guy was selected in the 11th round, 187th overall, by the Gatineau Olympiques.

Guy, 16, spent the 2018-19 season with the Notre Dame Hounds U15 Prep team, accumulating 17 points (7-10-17) in 26 games.

The Fredericton, NB product also added six points (1-5-6) in five post-season games.

Ethan Johnson was selected in the 11th round, 200th overall, by the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

Johnson, 15, attended the Mount Academy this past season. In 15 CSSHL Showcase games with their U16 Prep team, the Quispamsis, NB product recorded 15 points (3-12-15).

Gabriel Filion was selected in the 14th round, 242nd overall, by the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Filion, 15, attended Mount Academy this past season, where he netted 20 points (13-7-20) in 15 CSSHL Showcase games with their U16 Prep team.

The Montreal, QC product also appeared in two CSSHL regular season games with their U18 Prep team.
