Shawnigan Lake names Armstrong Skills Coach

Shawnigan Lake School Director of Hockey Kevin Cooper today announced that Rob Armstrong has been named the Skills Coach for their hockey programming.

Armstrong brings over 15 years of experience as a professional hockey coach, leading teams and coordinating programs for players in Canada, the United States and internationally.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Rob to Shawnigan and having him join our coaching staff,” said Cooper. “He brings a wealth of knowledge to many areas, but most importantly he will develop our players from a skills standpoint. Rob truly believes in player development and the players are excited to learn from him.”

Armstrong, a certified Hockey Canada High Performance 1 coach, has been the owner and operator of Hockey Evolution Canada since 2011, which provides high-quality power skating and individual game skills instruction to hockey players in British Columbia, Canada.

The North Saanich, B.C. resident was a Program Coordinator for BC Hockey from 2012-2014, while his coaching background includes being the Head Coach and General Manager of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s Peninsula Panthers during the 2011-12 season, as well as the Head Coach of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s Pacific Coast Hockey Academy Midget Prep team from 2014-2017.
