Indigenous Sports Academy (9) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
In a battle of winless ISA (0-3-0) vs undefeated Prairie (3-0-0) a 9-2 scoreline seemed like a potential outcome. What might come as a surprise was it was the visitors taking the victory. Maddon L’Hommecourt (1G, 2A) opened the scoring with the lone first period goal. The ISA lead grew to 5-0 at the end of the second as Owen Sinclair (1G, 1A), Seth Baptiste (2G), Lawson Gardipy (2G) and Ryder Fiddler (2G, 1A) all found the back of the net. Fiddler added a power play goal just 41 seconds into the third to extend the advantage to 6-0. Prairie would finally halt the bleeding as Bryden Wagner and Kashton Smith scored 10 minutes apart. But Baptiste scored shorthanded, and Gardipy and Lincoln Kitchemonia added even strength goals as ISA earned the convincing 9-2 win. Holden Fauchon (32/34) made 32 saves for the win.
Stanstead College (6) vs Bourget College (0) East U18 Prep
An offensive showcase put on by Stanstead was highlighted by an elite powerplay performance. The Spartans powerplay went 4/9 including the two opening goals in the first. Brody Molloy (3G, 1A) scored two of those powerplay markers in part of a four point outing. Andrew Shimon (17/17) shut the door for a 17-save shutout while Zachary Botelho (50/56) made a valiant 50-saves in the losing effort.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U15 Prep
Bennett Pattison (1G, 1A) opened the scoring early for Calgary IHA, but a quick pair of goals from RHA Winnipeg’s Easton Pitz and Marko Malbasa would turn the tables in their favour. However, Calgary IHA would strike back with a rapid pair of their own off the sticks of Jake Gerstenbuhler (2G) and Eric Sexton. Gerstenbuhler would add another in the second, putting Calgary IHA ahead by two. Max Sanders (2G) would bring RHA Winnipeg back to within striking distance just before the end of the second. In the third, Kai Dingwall would strike early for Calgary IHA, restoring that two goal advantage. Sanders would come back with another for RHA Winnipeg but that’s all that would get by Alexandre Montembeault (27/31) as he backed Calgary IHA to their second win on the season.
