Former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes Colin Doherty and Benjamin Simpson have signed in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Grande Prairie Storm.
Products of Sherwood Park, AB, Doherty and Simpson both spent two seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with NAX.
Doherty joined NAX for the 2018/19 U15 Prep season, recording 2 goals and 6 assists in 27 games. The following U15 Prep campaign the forward would score 5 goals and 15 assists in 26 games.
Simpson, a defenseman, joined NAX for the 2020/21 COVID-19 shortened U16 Prep season, playing three games and tallying one assist. In 2021/22 he would suit up for the NAX U18 Prep team, finishing with 4 goals and 20 assists in 30 games.
