Former Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) student-athlete Scott Walford has signed an AHL contract with the Syracuse Crunch.
The Coquitlam, BC defenseman spent the 2014/15 season in the CSSHL with the OHA White U18 Prep team. In 28 games he would tally 6 goals and 15 assists, before adding 3 points in 3 games as OHA captured back-to-back CSSHL U18 Prep Western Championships.
Selected in the first round, 18th overall by the Victoria Royals at the 2014 WHL Draft, Walford made the jump to the WHL in 2015/16. He would spend 4 seasons with the Royals before finishing his WHL career in 2019/20 with the Saskatoon Blades. Overall he would tally 174 points in 290 WHL games, earning a 2018/19 WHL (West) Second Team All-Star honour in 2018/19.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Walford would spend the following three seasons with McGill University. In 59 U SPORTS games he would tally 55 points while being named a U SPORTS (OUA East) First Team All-Star and U SPORTS (OUA East) Most Sportsmanlike Player twice.
Walford would play five AHL games with the Crunch in 2023/24 to wrap up his season.
