Fresh off winning his second NCAA National Championship, University of Denver and former BCW Academy forward Massimo Rizzo has signed an NHL Entry level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Rizzo was originally selected in the seventh round, 216th overall by the Flyers at the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The Burnaby, BC product has spent the last three seasons in the NCAA with the University of Denver, tallying 126 points in 107 games. During his NCAA career he won two National Championships, was named to the NCAA (NCHC) All-Rookie Team, the NCAA (NCHC) First and Second All-Star team once, and a NCAA (West) Second All-American Team twice.
Rizzo spent the 2016/17 CSSHL season with the BWC Academy U18 Prep team. In 28 games he led all skaters with 41 assists while finishing fourth in league scoring with 53 points. At the conclusion of the season he would be named the CSSHL U18 Prep Top Freshman and MVP Award winner.
