Hogg, Hovi and Maxwell Named to BC Hockey Staff

BC Hockey announced their 2021 Program of Excellence Staffs and among the staff include three individuals with Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) ties.

Kris Hogg was named the Female U18 head coach while Venla Hovi joins the staff as an assistant coach. Lydia Maxwell rounds out the trio as Athletic Therapist.

Hogg currently serves as the RINK Hockey Academy Female U18 Prep head coach, a position he has held for the last four years after spending one season with their U17 Prep team. During his time with RINK Hogg won back to back CSSHL League Championships in 2018 and 2019. This will be the second year Hogg has been part of the BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence, having previously served as an assistant coach in 2019.

Originally from Tampere, Finland, Hovi is heading into her second straight season as the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Female U17 Prep head coach. Having played in three Winter Olympic Games for Finland, Hovi joins the BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence for the first time.

Maxwell is returning to BC Hockey’s U18 Female POE program for the second time this year, having also served as the team’s athletic therapist in 2019. Maxwell currently works for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Super REX team, having previously spent the 2015/16 season with Edge School, and 2016-2021 seasons with Delta Hockey Academy.
