Rothesay Netherwood School (7) vs Mount Academy (0) East U18 Prep
The first two games of the weekend sets for Rothesay Netherwood School and Mount Academy was no doubt one of the more one-sided games we’ll see this weekend, evidenced by the 59-14 shots on goal margin in favour of Rothesay. Mount Academy’s defensive efforts were commendable, but the weight of the pressure did break through. Seven different goal scorers scored Rothesay’s seven goals, with Brodie McClement’s four assists leading the way. Cesare Della Santina made all 14 saves that he needed to make to earn a shutout.
King’s Edgehill School (6/OT) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (5) East U18 Prep
Both King’s Edgehill School and Okanagan Hockey Ontario have seen mixed results through the front two-thirds of their weekend set; both losing to Rothesay and beating Mount Academy on Thursday and Friday. OHO started strong and led by two early in the second period, but before the middle frame had ceased, two KES goals from Liam Begun and Chris Turgeon had pulled the game back to square through two. Jack Warren gave King’s Edgehill their first lead of the game early in the third period, turning around the 2-0 deficit, but the scoring wasn’t done there. Anthony James-Bailey tied things up for OHO at three, before Kasper Kossila (1G, 1A) and Adam Clark (2G, 2A) traded goals later in the period to keep things square. Warren scored his second goal of the third period with 2:12 left to give King’s Edgehill the lead late, with his goal looking to have won the game for KES. The story had another twist left still, though, with Anthony James-Bailey (2G, 1A) scoring the equalizer with two seconds remaining in the third period. King’s Edgehill didn’t wallow in heartbreak, though, bouncing back to score the game-winning goal from Liam Nash merely 64 seconds into overtime.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (9) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (3) Female U18 Prep
Delta Hockey Academy Black and Okanagan Hockey Academy Black’s first of two back-to-back matchups this weekend ended incredibly slanted in the favour of Delta, with the visitors winning 7-0. Saturday morning followed, for OHA Black, an unfortunate trend. Mira Morgan scored twice in the first half of the first period for Delta, who wouldn’t look back from there. OHA Black never ceased their pushback efforts, scoring three goals themselves, but couldn’t do enough. Ultimately, three points apiece from Morgan and Myah King (1G, 2A) led Delta to what ended up being another blowout win.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U17
NAX won big over RHA Winnipeg by an 8-2 scoreline, and looked to continue their successful weekend on the road in the second of three games in three days between these two teams. The RHA Winnipeg effort looked incredibly different off the hop, with Grayson Speirs scored with six seconds remaining in what was a solid twenty minutes for the hosts to give them a 1-0 lead through one period of play. Jesse Barber’s second goal in as many games pulled things back to even, but Aiden Moen’s goal less than two minutes later gave RHA Winnipeg their lead back, one they’d hold through two. Brendan Wells in the RHAW goal made 41 saves on 42 shots throughout the game, including stopping all 20 NAX shots in the third period. RHA Winnipeg popped two into the empty net to help seal the deal, with the hosts impressively bouncing back from their Friday loss with a 4-1 victory on Saturday morning.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (7) vs Mount Academy (2) East U17 Prep

OHO struck back late in the first and opened the game up in their favour in the second. Their domination continued into the third period of play, with Easton Coffe scoring twice in the third to cap off a hat-trick. Delta Hockey Academy Black did it the hard way against BWC in their opener, winning 6-5. Okanagan Hockey Academy, likewise, played a very close first game of the season, but unlike DHAB, fell short against the Delta Hockey Academy White contingent by a 3-2 scoreline. Kristian Bowen scored 5:16 into the first period to elevate OHA into the lead, one they held until the final moments of the first period. Bentley Gillis (2G, 1A) scored shorthanded with eight seconds to go, a goal made all the more impactful by Stefano Trentalance (1G, 1A) scoring another just 68 seconds in for Delta Black to turn the score around. Gillis and Wynn Carey scored on the power play short thereafter, and two more in the third period sealed a 6-1 win.

CIHA pulled one back in the third through Rhett Davis, but Brantley Church extended his run of good form with a fourth goal of the game for RHAW and fourth goal of the season for Church. Ryan Koenig scored before Church notched his second, and RHA Winnipeg ended up earning a 6-2 victory.

Edge escaped the first period down by a single goal, but NAX lit up the scoreboard for five in the second period alone. Major contributions from Ayden Bouchard (1G, 3A), Cale Royer (2G, 1A), and Deston May (1G, 2A) led the way in what ended in a big 8-2 victory for the Northern Alberta Extreme.
Bourget College (2) vs Stanstead College (4) East U18 Prep
Both Bourget and Stanstead College would have been rearing to go come Saturday afternoon, having watched a half dozen Eastern U18 Prep games complete prior to both teams kicking off their season. Bourget clearly got their feet underneath them first, controlling and leading the game through twenty minutes. Cristophe Potvin, playing in his first career CSSHL game, scored two first-period goals to give Bourget College a two-goal lead through twenty minutes. Whatever was said in the Stanstead College room in the first intermission had to be crucial, because Stanstead hit the ice to start the second period ready to dominate. Tanner Hayden and Maxime Bonin scored within 90 seconds of one another in the second period to quickly tie the game up. After controlling the bulk of the third, Dimitri Pavlov, also in his first CSSHL game, had a snapshot deflect in late in the third period to give Stanstead the lead. They’d add an empty net goal to seal an impressive come-from-behind victory. Both the winning Renaud Auger-Mongrain (27/29) and losing Samuel Pitcher (34/37) stood out in between the pipes.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (6/OT) U15
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy opened their U15 season with consecutive games against both Delta Hockey Academy squads, starting with team White on Saturday. The first period evidenced DHA White being the sharper of the two squads, peppering the PCHA net with 15 shots and scoring three goals in the first period, with all three of Noah Yoo (1G, 2A), Mason Hostyn (2G, 2A), and Sajan Chatha (2G, 2A) continuing electric starts to the season with first-period tallies. PCHA started to mount their pushback, with two Koen Nicholas second-period goals pulling them back in it, but another one from Chatha kept them two behind. PCHA, no doubt, earned their way back into competing in the third. The Sea Devils outshot DHAW 34-24 in the last forty minutes, and scored three in the third through Tate Davis, Grayson Wade and Gus Steeves (1G, 1A). Ryan Romano’s goal in the third for Delta was huge, but the PCHA pushback forced it into overtime. In overtime, it was one of the usual suspects again for Delta, with Hostyn turning in Chatha’s cross-crease pass to score the overtime winner, sealing a thrilling victory for DHA White.
