GAME DAY RECAP: October 29, 2023

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (16) Female U18 Prep

Erica Baynard (3G, 1A) and Hayley Lee (3G, 1A) each recorded hat-tricks, Ellie Chou (1G, 5A) led all skaters with six points and Jillian Matthews (16/16) made 16 saves for the shutout as Delta Green defeated PMHA 16-0.

North Shore Warriors (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) Female U18 Prep

Inhye Jang (27/27) made 27 saves to earn her second shutout and third win of the 2023/24 season. Sydney Stibbard scored in the first, Callie Paull (1G, 1A) in the second, and Jordan Downey in the third as RHA Winnipeg defeated NSW 3-0. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (1) vs Edge School (2/OT) U18 Prep

Trace Langan and Sam LaPlante traded first period goals before Ryley Budd (37/38) and Landon Garbitt (43/45) shut the door for the remaining 40 minutes of regulation. Logan Murray would score his third goal of the season 1:20 into OT to give Edge a 2-1 lead. Owen Mastroianni (2A) assisted on both Edge goals. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy (7) U15

Brady Cyr, Tryson Edwards (1G, 2A), Ethan Kitchen (2G, 1A), Nicolas Peach (1G, 1A) and Matthew Zaitchikov (2G) scored for Delta and Quinn Coupland (20/22) made 20 saves as Delta defeated PCHA 7-2. Hudson Boulanger and Nehemiah Plunkett scored for PCHA in the loss. 

Wenatchee Wild Hockey (2) Academy vs Shawnigan Lake School (8) U17 Prep

Nigel Albers (2G, 1A), Brandon Kendall (2G) and Ethan Naus (2G) each scored twice to propel Shawnigan to an 8-2 victory. Sidney Armstrong and Ronan Murphy (1G, 2A) scored the other Shawnigan goals. Braden Boman and Everett Horrocks scored for Wenatchee in the loss. 

OHA Edmonton (3) vs Notre Dame (0) U18 Prep

Clarke Schaefer opened the scoring in the first and Hunter Yee and Brett Schrock (1G, 1A) added second period goals as OHA Edmonton defeated Notre Dame 3-0.Kohen McEllistrum (35/35) made 35 saves to keep a clean sheet in the win. Logan Salamondra (39/42) made 39 saves in the loss. 

Delta Hockey Academy Black (7) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy Navy (0) U17 Prep

Lucas Szulc (20/20) stopped all 20 shots he faced and Delta Black fired 68 at Bennett Byers (61/68) en route to a 7-0 win. Nicholas Campbell (2G, 3A) and defenseman Ryan Black (2G, 2A) paced the Delta Black offence. Imaan Atwal, Dylan Duquette and Liam McLeod (1G, 1A) scored the other goals in the victory. 

Edge School Maroon (7) vs OHA Edmonton Black (4) U17 Prep

Emmett Jones (2G) scored twice, including once short handed, in the first 5:01 as OHA Edmonton Black led 2-0 early. Luca Dufour would score his ninth of the season to get Edge Maroon on the board midway through the first. Brody Nest would restore the two goal lead early in the second but Sebastien Conne-Correnti (2G, 1A) would respond 52 seconds later, before Mirco Dufour (1G, 2A) and Jack Bisson gave Edge Maroon the 4-3 lead. Braydon Franks would tie the game late in the second. The third period belonged to Edge Maroon as Conne-Correnti, Keegan de Sa and Noah Aldred (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net on the power play. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs Edge School (4) Female U18 Prep

Megs Thiessen (23/24) and Jaya Schippel (45/49) kept the scoreboard blank in the first 20 minutes. Shannon Pearson (2G, 1A) and Brooklyn Blomquist traded early second period goals before Jennifer Keller scored the go-ahead goal with 6:56 remaining in the second. Pearson and Olivia Imperato would add third period insurance markers as Edge secured a 4-1 victory. 

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy White (2) vs BWC Academy White (4) U17 Prep

Mark Lee (2G) scored twice and affiliate player Cohen Baker (1G, 1A) added one as well as BWC Academy White led 3-0 after 20. After a scoreless second, Aleks Ostrovskyy and Ryan Christenson (1G, 1A) would score for PCHA White as they clawed within one. But Gabriel Kaminski would score an empty net short handed goal with 25 seconds remaining to secure a BWC Academy White victory. 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (8) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U15 Prep

Dominik Silbernagle (2G) opened the scoring for RHA Kelowna with two goals only separated by 48-seconds. Ryan Sadovia (2G) would continue the scoring trend for RHA Kelowna before Kayden Runstedler scored his seventh of the season for NSW. RHA Kelowna would score another four unanswered following Runstedler’s goal.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) vs St. Mary’s High School (4) Female U18 Prep

St. Mary’s High School had full control for the first 40-minutes of play, scoring four unanswered goals to build a substantial lead before the third. Nayeli Briones (2G, 1A) was the main contributor during this offensive push. OHA Black would scramble back for two in the third, but couldn’t get anything more past Lila Dial (15/17).

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (8) U18 Prep

Only two CIHA skaters were left off the scoresheet in Sunday’s triumph over Pilot Mound. CIHA’s offence was also vastly spread across the entire lineup, seeing eight-unique goal scorers in the process. The consistent flow of offence allowed goaltender Nate Stevens (13/13) to comfortably pick up a shutout in his first win of the 2023/24 campaign.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

NAX would build a two goal lead early in the second with goals from Hubert Clarke and Jack Toogood (1G, 1A). However, Will Bell (1G, 1A) would score 38-seconds later to put SAHA on to the board. Teams would trade goals one more time in the third, but the real hero of the match goes to Caleb Leichsner, who scored the game-winning goal with 32-seconds on the clock to revoke NAX’s perfect record and hand them their first loss of the 2023/24 season.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U18 Prep

Although NSW had the early jump with two goals to start the match, PCHA would claw back and tally four unanswered to sway the two goal lead into their favour midway through the second. Deacon Drummond (2G, 1A) and Shane Purves (1G, 1A) would alter that trajectory with another two goals for NSW, bringing things even early in the third. The score would remain even until Brendon Hall (2G, 1A) banked one in from behind the net to give PCHA the outright lead with 2:16 on the clock, which they would hold on to to close out their weekend with the win.

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (0) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep

Torin Thickson (1G, 1A) was able to score one late in the first to build momentum for Yale entering the second. Hunter Aura (2G), Tommy Lafreniere (3A) and Logan Flint (1G, 1A) would begin to contribute offensively for the next two periods, paving an easy route to victory for Yale. Spencer Hunnam (20/20) would also snag his first shutout of the season.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (10) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (0) Female U18 Prep

Chloe Primerano (4G, 1A) scored her second consecutive hat-trick in a 10-0 win over NAX. Primerano’s efforts were aided by Gracie Graham (5A) who also picked up five points, and Sage Babey (2G, 1A) who hit the 20-point plateau on her 2023/24 campaign. Farah Walker (12/12) was in goal for the shutout.

Edge School Gold (8) vs OHA Edmonton (1) U17 Prep

Edge Goal simply couldn’t stop scoring for the first 40-minutes of Sunday’s contest versus OHA Edmonton, scoring six unanswered and forcing a goalie change early into the second. Cale Chimera would break Edge Gold’s scoring chain in the third, but Reed Reschny (3G) would follow up with another two to complete the hat-trick and seal the victory.

Shawnigan Lake School (6) vs St. Mary’s Academy (2) Female U18 Prep

Dawson Benson (1G, 2A) opened the scoring for Shawnigan Lake with a one-timer in close, charging up momentum for an explosive second period. Morgan Jackson (4G, 1A) would score her second natural hat-trick of the season and add a fourth in the third for a five point performance. Jackson sits at second in league scoring with 33-points to her name.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (2) U17 Prep

OHA and St. George’s would score two apiece to make things even halfway through the match until Kaelen Halowaty (1G, 2A) would score one through contact for his third point of the afternoon. St. George’s would make a hard push in the third, firing 23-shots on to Micah Davidson (54/56). Davidson wouldn’t budge, turning away each St. George’s scoring chance for the rest of the match en route to his fifth consecutive win in the crease.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U18 Prep

Following a scoreless first period, Shawnigan Lake would jump on to the scoresheet first with a powerplay goal from Matt Patry at the top of the right dot. However, Shawnigan would surrender a penalty shot to Liam Ruck (2G, 1A) who made no mistake for his ninth of the season. Markus Ruck (1G, 1A) would reply with one of his own come the start of the third. Eli McKamey would tie things up shortly after for Shawnigan Lake, but L. Ruck and Hudson Closson would put home another two for OHA, thus sealing up the weekend with a victory.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (1) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (2/SO) Female U18 Prep

Both teams remained defensively sound for the entirety of the this contest as we would not see the first goals until the start of the third period where Keira Grant would score her first of the season for SAHA.  With 2:16 left on the clock, Gabriella Lee would respond for Delta Black, giving them a shot at overtime and eventually a shootout where the goaltending would take over. That was until Keyana  Bert sealed the game up for SAHA with a gorgeous backhand finish in the fifth round to ultimately close up the weekend.
