GAME DAY RECAP: November 5, 2023

Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna Red (4) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) U17 Prep

A shot off the rush from Rylan Saunders ignited the scoring for RHA Kelowna Red. Rhett Tubello (2G) would later add two consecutive goals to extend the lead to three. However, Jack Morgan would net his first of the season with a buzzer beater right before the end of the second to inject some life into Delta Black for the start of the third. Nicholas Campbell and Jordan Nguyen would both score to cut RHA Kelowna Red’s down to one late, but Kai Ebert (26/29) would hold down the fort and secure the win for RHA Kelowna Black.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15 Prep

Anthony Bedard and Max George scored just 1:08 apart for a pair of first period goals to give RHA Winnipeg the edge early on. Zachary Schwartz would respond in the second for OHA Edmonton with his sixth of the campaign, but Knox Burton would restore RHA Winnipeg’s two-goal lead later in the second with a powerplay marker. OHA Edmonton would manage to tie the game with a late second period tally and an early one in the third from Domonic Neville, but Drayden Uhrina would pot one of his own shortly after for the eventual game-winner.

BWC Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15 Prep

Aidan Lazazzera (43/46) stopped all 13-shots from RHA Kelowna in the first period, keeping BWC Academy afloat. However, he would surrender two in a 20-shot second period from RHA Kelowna. Ryan Sadovia (1G, 1A) was able to chip in on both tallies. Following another RHA Kelowna goal, Jayden Simpson (2G) would score twice to give BWC Academy a fighting chance late, including a wonderful solo effort to cut the lead down to one. Unfortunately, they ran out of time. BWC Academy has now dropped their last four games while RHA Kelowna grabs their third straight win after starting the year off 1-7-0.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep

Delta Black got the ball rolling with three unanswered goals, all of which were firsts of the seasons for Jonell Daychief (2G) and KJ Merriman (1G, 1A). However, PCHA would come back flying with three unanswered of their own, sparked by a powerplay goal from Tyson Jeske. Delta Black would remain composed and Christian Sum (1G, 1A) would bat home a cross-crease from Shane Moscatello (3A) to take back the lead and secure the victory.

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs BWC Academy Gold (10) U17 Prep

Gus Schill may have opened the scoring 13-seconds in for Yale, but BWC Academy Gold caught aflame shortly after and Yale could not extinguish the oncoming offence. BWC Academy Gold would score five goals in only 4:24, including two from Gianni Bosa (2G, 1A), two from Kai Anderson (2G), and a sweet passing play from Jonathan Lee that was polished off by Colton Gerrior. Jaiven Mann (3G) would continue the offence later in the match, picking up a hat-trick between the second and third period. BWC Academy Gold now improves to 3-2-0 on the season after taking down one of the division’s top teams.

However, Adam Molinaro (1G, 1A) and Luke Schamehorn would score just 1:30 apart to bring the deficit down to one. With 3:54 on the clock, Zach Griffiths would be fortunate on a five-hole slider to force overtime.
