CSSHL Returns for First Time in 561 Days

It has been a whopping 561 days since the last Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) game, but the 2021/22 season is set to return today when Edge School hosts the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) in a U16 Prep matchup at 2:00pm MST.

A total of 22 CSSHL games will be played on opening weekend as the U15 Prep, U16 Prep, U17 Prep and U18 Prep divisions will all see game action.

Season Preview

13 teams from 11 different CSSHL member programs will compete in the 2021/22 Female U18 Prep season. The four western provinces and one state in the U.S.A will all be represented this year, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) will be unable to compete in the first half of the season.

The U18 Prep division will welcome two teams from Saskatchewan with addition of Notre Dame Hounds (Wilcox, SK) and Prairie Hockey Academy (Caronport, SK), bringing the division to a total of 18 teams competing across the four western provinces and one state (Idaho) in the U.S.A.

13 teams from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Idaho will face-off this season at the U17 Prep level.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy will be unable to compete in the first half of the season at the U17 Prep and U18 Prep levels.

The U16 Prep will see the return of West Van Academy as 12 teams from the western provinces will battle for a league championship.

Both Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (Pilot Mound, MB) and Prairie Hockey Academy have been granted U15 Prep teams for the upcoming campaign, bringing the division total to 17 teams, the second largest division in the CSSHL.

The U15 division sits at an even 10 teams with 7 B.C. teams and 3 Alberta.

The CSSHL regular season will see divisions conclude March 3-8, 2022 ahead of the annual CSSHL Championships which will take place March 8-20, 2022. Full playoff schedules will be released at a later time.
