A pair of Calgary International Hockey Academy (CIHA) teammates have signed in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Drumheller Dragons.
Braxton Thornton joined CIHA for the 2022/23 Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) U18 Prep season. In 32 games the Sedalia, AB forward finished third in team scoring with 44 points in 32 games. Prior to his time with CIHA he spent two seasons with South Alberta Hockey Academy’s (SAHA) U18 Prep team tallying 18 points in 36 games. Thornton originally joined the CSSHL in 2019/20 with the Edge School U15 Prep team. That season he would score 5 goals and assist on 19 more in 30 games.
This season Thornton affiliated in two AJHL games with the Camrose Kodiaks.
A forward from Calgary, AB, Devon Winder scored 12 goals and 14 assists in 26 games with the CIHA U18 Prep team this season. The season prior Winder played for the Edge School U16 Prep team, finishing with 11 goals and 20 assists in 36 games.
Winder played seven AJHL games this season with the Olds Grizzlys scoring one goal and assisting on another.
