Blues sign CSSHL grad Hofer

The St. Louis Blues have signed Canadian Sport School Hockey League graduate Joel Hofer to a three-year entry-level contract.

Hofer, 18, attended the Pursuit of Excellence from 2015-2017. During the 2016-17 season, he appeared in 14 games with their Midget Prep team, compiling a 2.86 goals-against average and .915 save-percentage.

The year prior, the Winnipeg, Man. product posted the Midget Varsity Division’s best goals-against average (1.74) and best save-percentage (.937) while being named the 2016 CSSHL Midget Varsity Division Top Goaltender.

Hofer was selected by the Blues in the fourth round, 107th overall, at the 2018 NHL Draft.

Hofer is currently in his third season in the Western Hockey League. He started the season with the Current Broncos prior to being traded to the Portland Winterhawks. In 30 games with the Broncos, he posted a 6-21-1 record along with a .904 save percentage. With the Winterhawks, he has gone 9-8-0 with a 3.18 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 18 appearances.

Hofer won a WHL championship in 2018 with the Broncos.
