31 former Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) student-athletes have been named to the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch List for the 2027 NHL Draft.
The list is highlighted by defenseman Landon DuPont (Edge School) who is projected to be the second straight CSSHL alumni, and third total, to be selected first overall joining Gavin McKenna (2026, Toronto Maple Leafs) and Connor Bedard (2023, Chicago Blackhawks).
The players on the preliminary list with A ratings are considered potential first-round picks. Players with B ratings are considered possible second- or third-round choices, players with C ratings are potential fourth-or fifth-round picks, and those with W ratings indicate a “watch” player for potential sixth- or seventh-round consideration. 4 former CSSHL student-athletes have been given an A rating, 1 a B rating, 9 a C rating, and 17 a W rating.
The 31 CSSHL alumni are currently playing in the QMJHL, OHL WHL, NCAA and BCHL. Of the 55 WHL developed players who find their names on the list, 44% (24/55) are CSSHL alumni.
