King’s Edgehill School (1) vs Rothesay Netherwood School (6) East CCM
King’s Edgehill School went into Thursday night’s clash with Rothesay Netherwood School with three wins out of five games in November, squaring off against a Rothesay team that was coming in hot, with wins over Bourget College and Ulysse Academie last weekend, seeing them ride in on a high. Rothesay’s main man, Drew Moores (1G, 1A), scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the second period to help Rothesay take the lead through forty minutes, with a 3-1 goal from Joaquin Cadiz (1G, 2A) giving Rothesay a comfortable cushion heading into the third. Carter Odell scored 33 seconds after the period started, with Ryder Young and Arthur Morand scoring late to finish it off for RNS in the third period to secure the win.
Indigenous Sports Academy (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) U17
The Indigenous Sports Academy’s efforts towards their first win of the U17 division will have to march on after their game against the Northern Alberta Xtreme on Thursday, with NAX’s high-flying U17 squad winning their fifth straight against ISA. AJ Dutchak’s two goals in the first period helped provide NAX with an early lead that they’d hold from there on out. Three goals in quick succession late in the second period put the game well out of ISA’s reach, with Bryden Ezekiel (2G, 2A) and Reed Fellows (1G, 2A) helping add to what would end up being an AJ Dutchak hat-trick. Gage Genereux had the less busy evening of the two goaltenders, but still needed 20 saves on 21 shots for the win.
BWC Academy (7) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep
The top of the crop of WHL Draft prospects had this weekend’s showcase at the Hockey for All Centre to show what they could do, starting with a pair of games Thursday, the first between BWC Academy and the Pilot Mound Buffaloes. The two sides came into the game having won four apiece on the year. BWC’s Mars Zhang has been their shining star all season, with Zhang providing Sullivan Shoucair (1G, 1A) an assist in the second period and scoring a brilliant individual effort of his own in the third. Zhang (1G, 3A) had plenty of help, too, with Minseo Song (1G, 3A) and Noah Yoo (2G, 1A) providing big nights offensively and BWC’s Grayson Kennard (42/46) standing tall in between the pipes to get the win for the Tigers. The only chink in Kennard’s armour Thursday was Pilot Mound’s Dane Magwood (3G, 1A), who tore up BWC with a hat-trick, but he was not enough to salvage a result for the Buffaloes.
Okanagan Hockey Colorado (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) U15 Prep
RHA Winnipeg hosted the U15 Prep showcase, inviting their CSSHL counterparts to compete at the Hockey for All Centre, but had one guest from outside the league, with Okanagan Hockey Colorado making the trip to Winnipeg for four games this weekend. The first was against OHA on Thursday evening, and while they’d lead, OHA’s relentless pursuit of the puck in all situations overwhelmed and broke down Colorado. Three goals in a row to end the second turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 OHA lead, with OHA eventually grabbing six goals from six different goal scorers. Two points apiece from Mason Liebel (1G, 1A), Eli Wiercioch (1G, 1A), and Isaac Zeeman (2A) led the way in OHA’s 6-3 win.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U15 Prep
North Shore improved their record to 6-5-0 with a 4-0 win over winless Notre Dame (0-8-0) Friday morning. Wesley Mayor opened the scoring 6:36 into the first with his fourth goal of the season, capitalizing on a Notre Dame turnover. It would remain a one-goal game until North Shore exploded for three goals in 2:14 of action late in the second as Sawyer Shepard, Mason Stanton and Mason Layher all found the back of the net. Neither team would score in the third as Nikita Neklyudov (21/21) made 21 saves for his second shutout of the season. Langdon Moore (2A) led all skaters with two assists.
Shawnigan Lake School (5) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep
Liam McNaughton (1G, 1A) opened the scoring for Shawnigan 5:56 into the first before Kai Yamamoto (1G, 1A) and Levi Greenwood (1G, 1A) made it a 3-0 lead heading into the intermission. Kipton Tremblay would get Prairie on the board with a power-play goal, tipping home a Kyson Soyka point shot midway through the second. Defenseman Luke Baldwin would go end-to-end just 15 seconds later, bringing Prairie within one with a solo effort. Cooper Sinclair (1G, 1A) doubled the Shawnigan lead just 41 seconds into the third period, scoring his fifth goal of the season. Prairie would battle back and even the score as Riley Allan and Mason Holowaty each scored their first goals of the season midway through the period. However, just a Prairie penalty expired, Linden Hall pounced on a rebound in front to give Shawnigan the game-winning goal while shorthanded. Eston Clement (26/30) and Slater Amiot (22/27) were in net for their respective teams.
St. George’s School (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5/OT) U15 Prep
Sebastian Morgan (2G, 1A) won it on an overtime power play. The odder story came in the last three minutes of regulation, when a Thomas scored for each side. Myer Hipkins (1G, 1A) and Jay Noh (1G, 1A) traded first-period goals. St. George’s then took a 3-1 lead in the second on a Josh Marsh (1G) power-play goal and a Michael Sung (1G) finish. Morgan (2G, 1A) answered just eight seconds after Sung’s goal, and defenceman Jesse Zhu (1G) potted his first of the season to pull the Xtreme even before the break. Theo Wang (41/46) kept the visitors afloat while NAX piled up a 46-31 shot edge. Then SGS blueliner Caleb Thomas (1G, 2A) beat Ryder Wagner unassisted with 2:42 left, also his first of the year. Northern Alberta pulled Wagner, and one second later defenceman Kieran Thomas (1G) tied it. Lukas Albrecht (3A) picked up his third helper on that goal. A tripping minor early in the extra frame opened the door, and Morgan (2G, 1A) used it to end NAX’s three-game slide.
Bourget College (12) vs King’s Edgehill School (1) East CCM
Forty-two seconds. That was all Bourget College needed to go up 3-0 on the road, and the scorekeeper at the Bonnycastle Memorial Arena got little rest after that. Ludovic Roberge (3G) opened the scoring 56 seconds in. Carter Verdone (4G, 1A) then struck twice, 20 seconds apart, both times set up by defenceman Olivier Jetté (2A). Malik Roy (1G, 2A) found the net for his first of the season, and Verdone (4G, 1A) completed his hat-trick unassisted before the first half was over. By the final horn, Bourget had three hat-tricks on the scoresheet. Grayden Bath (3G, 2A) started his on a second-period power play and finished it in the third. Roberge (3G) completed his own, and Verdone (4G, 1A) capped a four-goal day just nine seconds after Roberge’s last. Christophe Potvin (1G, 4A) and Mathieu Passerini (4A) handled most of the playmaking. Harris Jones (1G) gave the home crowd something to cheer late in the third, beating the Bourget defence on his own for an unassisted goal.
Okanagan Hockey Colorado (8) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
Okanagan Hockey Colorado are guests in the U15 Prep division Showcase this weekend, and a day after a 6-3 loss to Okanagan Hockey Academy, the visitors made themselves at home. It didn’t start that way. Defenceman Finnegan Follick (1G) gave PCHA the lead midway through the first. The answer was quick: Tyler Smith (2G, 1A) tied it, and blueliner Brandon Guyette (1G) put OHC in front 27 seconds later. Hunter McCabe (1G, 1A), another defenceman, cashed in on a too-many-men minor for what held up as the winner. Luke Bowes (1G, 1A) pulled the home side within one late in the period, but Anders Beddow (1G) restored the two-goal gap 80 seconds later. Then Colorado’s depth showed. Smith (2G, 1A) buried a second-period power-play goal, and seven different players lit the lamp by the end. Josh Rioux (1G, 3A) and Cameron Panza (3A) each set up three goals, while Alan Pope (1G, 2A) and Rory Lyons (1G) added third-period goals. Over the final 40 minutes, Zane Madsen (23/25) turned aside all 14 shots PCHA sent his way.
Edge School (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) U17 Prep
Something had to give at the RINK Training Centre, where two clubs riding five-game winning streaks met for the third time this fall. For 34 minutes, it looked like RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s day. Tyler McCallum (1G) converted on a first-period power play, Eli Wasylyk (1G) doubled the lead two minutes later, and Max Sanders (1G) carried the play up ice for a shorthanded goal in the second to make it 3-0. Then the same penalty kill gave it right back. With the extended power play still running, Cade Mazurski (2G, 1A) got Edge on the board out of a crowd at the crease 74 seconds later, and he added another before intermission. The third period belonged entirely to the visitors. Lachlan Kisio (2G) tied it on the power play early, then settled it from a goalmouth scramble at 6:49. Edge didn’t allow a single shot the rest of the way, even after DJ Mecas (38/42) went to the bench for an extra attacker. Final tally on the shot clock: 42-16.
Kuper Academy (4) vs Selwyn House School (3) East BioSteel
Kuper Academy did the heavy lifting early, then spent the last two minutes at Westmount Arena hanging on. Emile Fortin (1G) got the visitors going from in tight on a first-period power play. Zayne Matti (2G) doubled the lead in the second, and Kaylan Kong (1G) took advantage of a Kuper minor to put Selwyn House on the board late in the frame. For a while, the third looked like a formality. Dihein Mahathelge (1G) scored off the rush three minutes in. Evan Harding (2A) then set up Matti (2G) for his second midway through, and it was 4-1. A late Kuper penalty opened the door. Luke Kirstein (1G, 1A) scored on the power play with 2:15 left, and Domenico Cristofaro (1G, 1A) cut it to one with six seconds on the clock. Mark Liakh (27/30) and the Kuper defence survived those final seconds, giving the visitors their first road win of the season.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (5) vs North Shore Warriors (0) Women’s U18 Prep
If you only caught the first period at the North Shore Winter Club, you saw the whole scoreboard story. Sophia Dhami (1G, 2A) opened it midway through, and defender Sara Hettle (1G, 1A) made it 2-0. Then Delta Hockey Academy Green scored twice in 28 seconds late in the frame: Addi McFegan (1G, 1A) and Eden Hamel (1G) beat Emma Ward (43/48) back-to-back. After that, the night belonged to the North Shore netminder. Delta threw 20 shots at her in the second period and came away with nothing. It took until early in the third for Samera Gabriel (1G, 2A) to beat her again, with Dhami (1G, 2A) picking up her third point on the play. At the other end, Maive Gosselin-Berg (13/13) needed just a baker’s dozen saves for the shutout as the visitors outshot North Shore 48-13. Delta stays perfect on the road, now 9-0 away from home.
North Shore Warriors Orange (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (7) Women’s U18 Prep
Delta Hockey Academy Black made it three wins in a row at Planet Ice Delta, and Jojo Mailhot (3G) kept the goal judge busy all afternoon. Zoey Pupillo (40/47) held the Orange level for 17 minutes before Mailhot (3G) broke the seal with an unassisted power-play goal. Eleven seconds later, Yubon Lee (1G) added her first of the season. Clara Zhong (1G, 1A) stretched the lead early in the second, and defender Elle Cathrea (1G) opened her account for the year on the man advantage late in the frame. Delta’s power play went a perfect three-for-three, with Mailhot (3G) scoring the last of those goals in the third off a feed from Zhong (1G, 1A) and Neveah Brankovic (1A). Defender Emily Gerdel (1G, 1A) chipped in too, and Mailhot (3G) completed her hat-trick with 70 seconds left. Annika Ewankiw (17/17) stopped everything she faced, and Delta outshot North Shore Orange 47-17.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (4/OT) U18 Prep
Kinsmen Twin Arenas got its money’s worth. For 40 minutes, the teams traded goals. Cohen Larson (1G) opened the scoring for CIHA, and Joshua Frazer (1G) tied it. Brett Stuparyk (1G) then gave OHA Edmonton the lead, and Aidan McIntosh (1G) evened it in a second period. The visitors won 22-11 on the shot clock. Jacob Pidde (1G) put Calgary in front on a third-period power play, and Braxton Gibson (44/48) looked set to make it stand. Then late penalties left CIHA two men short. OHAE pulled Dysen Loewen (39/42) for an extra attacker, and Artello Forestal (1G, 1A) tied it with one second on the clock. The advantage carried into overtime, and 54 seconds in, defenceman Chayse Fedoriuk (1G, 1A) ended it off a Forestal (1G, 1A) feed. The result avenged a 6-4 loss in Calgary last month.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) U15 Prep
Cohen St. Louis (2G, 1A) assisted on the first goal of this one, then scored the next two himself. The CIHA defenceman helped set up Brody Bogean (2G) midway through the first. He then opened the second with the game-winner 74 seconds in and later finished an unassisted effort for his second of the day. Bogean (2G) added another before the period was out, and Calgary International Hockey Academy carried a 4-0 lead into the third in a meeting of two eight-win clubs. Miles Coy (1G, 2A) reached double digits early in the period with his 10th goal of the season. Charlie Terlesky (17/18) had a quiet, tidy outing in the CIHA crease until Mason Liebel (1G) finally solved him with 3:31 left. The response took 12 seconds: Lucas Beaudin (1G, 2A) restored the five-goal gap, with Coy (1G, 2A) and defenceman Erik Liffiton (2A) assisting. When the horn sounded, CIHA had more than doubled OHA on the shot clock, 39-18.
North Shore Warriors (1) vs BWC Academy (11) U15
Kesler Holmes (1G) put North Shore ahead 4:28 into the afternoon at the Burnaby Winter Club. The visitors got to enjoy that lead for 68 seconds. Marcus Da Silva (1G) tied it, defenceman William Liu (2G, 1A) put BWC Academy in front on the power play, and the home side never eased off. BWC outshot the Warriors 68-9, went five-for-nine with the man advantage and spread 11 goals across eight different scorers. Joseph Ferone (4A) didn’t score but kept setting the table. Isaiah Abdulla (2G, 2A) and Lucas Hansen (2G, 1A) each scored twice, and blueliner Jace Watts (1G, 3A) closed the scoring on a third-period power play. The third was the busiest stretch of all: six goals, three of them inside two minutes, including Jonah Van Vuuren’s (1G) first of the season. Taylor Clarke (50/61) took most of the barrage before Samuel Roberge (7/7) finished the game. At the other end, Malcolm Mui (8/9) saw exactly one shot in the third.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) U15
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna came home to Rutland Arena looking to end a three-game slide, and for a stretch of the second period the home side looked capable of doing it. Hunter Borba (1G, 2A) and Kohen Louie (1G) had beaten Preston Wawryk (42/48) to put Okanagan Hockey Academy up 2-0. RINK then pulled within one on a Coye Baker (1G) power-play goal and outshot OHA 13-9 in the middle frame. With 48 seconds left before intermission, Nash Carlsen (1G) picked his moment for his first goal of the season, and it stood as the winner. OHA peppered Wawryk with 23 shots in the third. Ryo Riva (1G, 3A) capped a four-point day on the power play, and Jacoby Charette (1G) made it 5-1. Vincent Vass (1G) pulled one back for RINK out of a pile-up at the crease, but defenceman Carter Hinds (1G, 2A) had the final word a minute from time.
BWC Academy (0) vs Edge School (4) U15 Prep
Forty-nine saves usually earn a goalie more than a loss, but Tyler Rydberg (49/53) ran into an Edge School group that would not stop shooting. Edge fired 53 pucks at the BWC Academy netminder and came up empty on five power plays, yet never trailed. Rydberg held firm through a scoreless first in which Edge outshot BWC 12-5. The second was a different story. Defenceman Alex Ubongen (2G) broke through midway through the frame, then scored again less than three minutes later, with Wyatt Pollock (1A) and fellow blueliner Parker Christianson (1A) assisting. Nazar Shmatok (1G, 1A) added his 10th of the season before the period was out, and Gio Niven (2A) had a hand in two of the three goals. Ian Kim (1G) tacked on another in the third. At the other end, Bennett Tice (19/19) needed fewer than half of Rydberg’s workload to post the shutout as Edge stretched its winning run to six.
Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) U15 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg stretched its winning run to eight, though Delta Hockey Academy made them wait 25 minutes for a goal. Holter Karpiak (33/40) kept the first period scoreless. Then came a 6:32 stretch of the second that settled it. Caleb Church (1G, 1A) broke the deadlock, and Jax Fellner (3G) followed 34 seconds later. Ryan Koenig (1G) and Fellner (3G) again extended the lead, and Jackson Lussier (1G) made it 5-0. Every Fellner goal came with the same two names attached: Brock Labelle (3A) and Hunter Lang (3A) set up all three, the last of them early in the third to complete the hat-trick. Delta kept pushing back. Alex Iaichkin (1G, 1A) got Delta on the board late in the second, and Sajan Chatha (1G, 1A) and Jack Walker (1G) both scored in the third, Walker on the power play. Defenceman Jake Gagro (1G) scored between those two, and Cooper Beardy (20/23) handled the rest.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) U17 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna spent most of the afternoon being outshot and still found a way. Will Tidsbury (1G, 1A) scored inside the opening minute. Seve Paladino (2G) evened it late in the first, and then RINK pounced at the start of the second. Defenceman Cash Hunter (1G, 1A) scored his first of the season, and Jaxon Lodge (1G) made it 3-1 just 36 seconds later, moments after an offensive-zone faceoff. Okanagan Hockey Academy clawed back with the extra man. Paladino (2G) scored his second out of a scramble at the crease, and Nathan Marques (1G, 1A) tied it on another power play with 23 seconds left in the period. Cooper Giarraputo (2A) assisted on both. From there, Max Davis (39/42) refused to let OHA go ahead. Early in the third, Tidsbury (1G, 1A) fed Jett Wood (2G, 1A) in tight for the winner. Wood sealed it with a late empty-netter, as OHA finished with a 42-26 edge in shots that never turned into points.
Bishop’s College School (4) vs Lower Canada College (1) East BioSteel
Three weeks after an overtime loss on Lower Canada College’s ice, Bishop’s College School came back and left no need for extra time. Elliott Correia (1G) set the tone 24 seconds in with a shorthanded goal, set up by Seth Peach (1A). In the second, the BCS power play went to work. Defenceman Adam Bojnansky (1G) scored his first of the season off feeds from Gavin Hartman (1G, 1A) and Owen Goodfellow (1A). Hartman (1G, 1A) then added another with the extra man, unassisted, three and a half minutes later. Nathan Cahill (19/20) was rarely tested and faced only three shots in the middle frame. Antonio Lapenna (1G) finally beat him on a power play with under two minutes left. The visitors closed it the same way they opened it: Marc-Antoine Larochelle (1G) scored shorthanded, unassisted, with 11 seconds on the clock. Two shorthanded goals bookended the night, and the season series is now level.
OHA Edmonton (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) U15
Zero penalty minutes, zero power plays, and one line that did almost all the damage. At the RINK Training Centre, Adrian Sinclair (3G, 1A), Liam Grawberger (1G, 3A) and Jackson Ross (3A) combined on four of RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s five goals in a game played at even strength from start to finish. Sinclair (3G, 1A) scored twice in the first, both set up by Grawberger (1G, 3A), and Lincoln Rivard (1G) went it alone for a 3-0 lead with 39 seconds left in the period. Nixon Ryan (1G) got OHA Edmonton on the board midway through the second. Fifty-nine seconds later, Sinclair (3G, 1A) completed the hat-trick. Grawberger (1G, 3A) then finished a feed from Ross (3A) and Sinclair (3G, 1A) to make it 5-1. OHAE changed goalies for the third, and Smith Strank (13/13) shut the door. Lars Lund (1G) beat Nolan Memka (25/27) late, and the whole thing wrapped up in a brisk hour and five minutes.
North Shore Warriors (6) vs STAR Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
Two first-period goals from the North Shore Warriors proved to make a huge impact in the game as a whole on Friday evening, with STAR’s attempts at a comeback constantly bumping up against the Warriors’ early-established lead. STAR pushed back, scoring two in the second and one early in the third to tie the game 2-2 and 3-3, but unfortunately for them, North Shore’s Cole Mitchell (3G, 1A) reigned supreme. His shorthanded goal broke the tie in the second before his strike in the third made it 4-3 North Shore. The Warriors would go up by two, with Mitchell’s powerplay goal late in the third capping his hat trick and his team’s 6-4 win.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (3) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep
The first 18 minutes of play between the Coeur d’Alene Wings and Pilot Mound Buffaloes saw the Buffaloes do enough damage to ostensibly decide the game. Two of their highest-flying offensive players made a big impact early, with Brycen Faul (2A) providing Dane Magwood (2G) with a pair of assists on Magwood’s two goals, and Konnor Dixon making it 3-0 before the end of the first. TJ Podollan (2G, 1A) led his team back into the game with a dazzling goal in the first, but Ryder Spurrill’s third-period dagger gave Pilot Mound a cushion late in the game. That cushion proved crucial, as Podollan would score again late to pull the Wings back within a goal. Cole Kuzyk made 23 saves on 26 shots to secure the win.
Indigenous Sports Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U17
The Indigenous Sports Academy’s march towards their first U17 win of the season looked like it might be over on Friday against OHA Edmonton, with ISA fighting back from a first-period deficit to square things up through twenty minutes, before Eric Martin (3G) would break the 1-1 tie in the third period. Martin’s pair lifted OHAE to a lead, but ISA would manage to hit back, with a Taron Kaiswatum goal squaring things at two late. OHA Edmonton responded from there, with a goal from Henrik Alexander-Ward, followed by Martin’s hat-trick to put the cherry on top of a 4-2 OHAE win.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (3) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
The Pilot Mound Buffaloes’ U17 Prep squad took on a very tall task in the form of CIHA, who had won 10 of 12 games prior to Friday. PMHA almost escaped the first with a lead, but CIHA grabbed an equalizer with four seconds left in the period through Kale Okubo (1G, 1A). CIHA wouldn’t allow Pilot Mound to lead in the game again, with Seth Gagnon scoring early in the second to give CIHA the lead. Max Faulkner pulled Pilot Mound back into the game before the end of the second, but CIHA’s Bentley Hope broke the tie early in the third, scoring the eventual game-winner off an excellent Juma Kinchen set-up.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (8) U17 Prep
The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy came into Friday in search of their first result in their eighteenth try of the season, with the Coeur d’Alene Wings standing between them and getting the monkey off their back. Unfortunately for them, the Coeur d’Alene obstacle wasn’t one Wenatchee would move. An explosion of first-period offence from the Wings put them head-and-shoulders above the Wild, with Ozro Paine, Colton Stoltz, and Wes Padilla all grabbing their first goals of the season. Wenatchee grabbed one in the third, but ultimately couldn’t dent Coeur d’Alene’s night, with Frontier Ice Arena seeing CDA win 8-1.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) U15 Prep
South Alberta Hockey Academy and RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s U15 Prep sides will go into next week’s Rocky Mountain Classic with high expectations of a successful tournament, with both teams squaring off head-to-head in Winnipeg as a precursor to the upcoming competition outside of league games. An explosion of second-period offence from SAHA ultimately proved to separate the two teams, with Carson Lamotte (2G) scoring two and Max Thielen hitting the back of the net with his first of the season to make it 3-0. RHAK pushed back in the third, snatching a couple of goals back, with Kade Walker making 34 saves on 36 shots for the win.
Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (5) U15 Prep
Both Yale and OHA Edmonton came into Friday with five U15 Prep wins under their belts, with the Hockey for All Centre’s showcase marching on for two teams with mixed results so far this season. Three goals in the second period led OHA Edmonton out of Yale’s reach, with goals on the powerplay from Marek Fetter and Jacoby Cardinal, followed by Max Holland’s seventh of the season. Gannon Smith put another on the board in the third to help OHA Edmonton win.
Edge School (6) vs Notre Dame Hounds (1) U15
The Notre Dame Hounds’ U15 squad unfortunately clashed horns with a high-flying Edge School Mountaineers team who were able to pick up their eighth win out of eleven games so far this season on Friday, meaning the Hounds’ hunt for their first win of the season will continue. Notre Dame’s Jacob Peters scored a powerplay goal in the first to send Notre Dame into the second period with a lead, but Edge School fought back, scoring two in the second before four in the third. Beckhem Falloon (1G, 2A) and Jiwu Youn (1G, 2A) led the way with three points each for Edge.
Prairie Hockey Academy (1) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (2) U17 Prep
Both Prairie Hockey Academy and the Indigenous Sports Academy marched into Saskatoon determined to pull out their fourth wins of the season. Prairie and ISA’s U18 Prep squads played games on October 21 and October 28, with Prairie taking the first and ISA winning the second, marking both team’s most previous victory to Friday. ISA’s Sonny Hayden (1G, 1A) opened the scoring, giving his team a lead they’d take into the third period, with Prairie’s Cooper Danroth responding to make it 1-1. The game looked set for overtime, but with 77 seconds left, Jakub Palmer forced one home for ISA, providing the last-gasp game-winner for ISA.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (4/OT) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U17 Prep
Nine wins in eleven games prior to Friday for the South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U17 Prep squad meant OHA Edmonton went into the game staring down a tall task. OHA Edmonton would score the only goal of the first, with South Alberta scoring the only of the second to send the game into the third period tied. SAHA led 3-1 early in the third, but OHAE fought back, scoring twice late to force overtime. Lucas Fisher broke through in OT for SAHA, securing the win, with Fisher’s goal, Carter Jarvis’ three points (2G, 1A), and 25 saves from Paxton Smigelski (25/28) leading SAHA to the win.
Edge School (6) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep
Both the Edge School Mountaineers and South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep squads have been near-indestructible this season, with Edge School a perfect six out of six to start, and SAHA winning seven of their eight. SAHA gave the undefeated Edge everything they could handle, leading through the first and into the second period. However, once the second period rolled in, Edge School’s powerplay took over. Edge would score four in a row to start the period, scoring five in the second in total, with four of the five coming on the powerplay. Luke Bodtker (1G, 2A) snatched three points, including the goal that would end up being the game-winner, with Max Ranseth scoring two of his own. SAHA fought back hard, eventually cutting the lead to one, making it 5-4 Edge in the third, but Luka Samu’s (1G, 2A) dagger in the third period secured the Mountaineers the win.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (4/SO) vs BWC Academy (3) U18 Prep
The last game of a jam-packed Friday featured BWC Academy hosting Coeur d’Alene in the U18 Prep division, with the BWC Lions having won their last three games, having last lost back on October 11. The Lions would be the side to take the lead through an Elias Papadatos (1G, 1A) point shot, but the back half of the first period saw Coeur d’Alene strike thrice. Goals from Deklan Murray, Gavin Payne, and Knox Vogel put CDA 3-1 up, a lead they’d hold late into the third period. BWC pulled back a goal to make it 3-2 early in the period, and with less than 90 seconds to go, Brayden McCrorie hit the net to tie the game 3-3. The eventual shootout, though, went perfectly for CDA. After Theo McBride (33/36) stopped a penalty shot in overtime, he made sure BWC were unsuccessful on both of their shootout attempts. Meanwhile, both Kirill Zhikharev and Easton Margettie scored in the shootout to win it for CDA.
