RHA Kelowna Black kicked-off the new year with 7 unanswered goals in the first 37:10 of the game. Tanner Livingston scored a power play marker late in the second to get CDA on the board heading into the third. Benjamin Bowtell (2G, 1A) scored his second goal of the game and the lone third period tally as RHA Kelowna Black skated to an 8-1 win in the first game of 2024. Bowtell, Owen Downey (2G, 1A), Owen McCarthy (3A) and Brady Walker (3A) all recorded three points in the win. Louis Gu (15/16) and Jr Peebles (49/57) were in net for their respective teams.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (0) vs RHA Kelowna Black (9) U17 Prep
Sartaj Dhami (16/16) made 16 saves for his second shutout and seventh win of the 2023/24 season as RHA Kelowna Black defeated CDA 9-0 Saturday. Brady Walker (6A) led all skaters with six points while Riley Pederson (3G) recorded a hat-trick. Benjamin Bowtell (2G, 1A), Owen Downey (1G, 2A) and Marcus Sadovia (3A) all had three points in the win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep
Will Scott scored his fourth of the season 3:50 into the game as OHA started off the New Year with a bang. Tyson Schamehorn added a late first period tally and Jacob Davidson (1G, 1A) and Seth Fleet scored second period markers as OHA led 4-0 after 40. Armaan Punn broke the Conner Nicolson (24/25) shutout bid 3:57 into the third as Wenatchee finally got on the board. A late Kyson Lindsay third period goal put the game out of reach and secured the OHA victory. Defenseman Noah Schneiderat (2A) had two assists in the win.
STAR Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (2) U15
STAR Hockey outshot Delta 47-25 but Jack Utsunomiya (46/47) stood on his head with a 46 save performance to backstop Delta to a 2-1 win. After 49:30 of scoreless play Evan Wong scored his eighth goal of the season to get Delta on the board. Yianni Sergiannidis extended the lead four minutes later, scoring his eighth goal of the season as well. Daniel Makovetskiy ended the Utsunomiya shutout bid in the dying seconds with a shorthanded goal. Erik Sims (23/25) made 23 saves in the loss.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep
Bradley Schmidt (2G) gave OHA a first period lead with his 12th goal of the season. Schmidt extended the lead 7:02 into the second but Dominic Deery countered for Wenatchee 48 seconds later. The game would remain that way until Kaelen Halowaty and Jacob Leamy scored empty net goals in the final 1:20 as OHA secured a 4-1 win. Micah Davidson (38/39) and Anthony Ganoung (41/43) were in net for their respective teams.
Edge School (4) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (5/OT) U18 Prep
Michiel Leenders (1G, 1A) gave CIHA an early advantage 1:45 into the game. Landon DuPont (2G) would tie the game 5:05 later with a power play marker but an Owen Miller power play goal with 1 second left in the first saw CIHA lead heading into the second. Owen Mastroianni tied the game just 33 seconds into the second before Jake Walker (1G, 1A) and Karter Radtke (1G, 1A) gave CIHA a 4-2 lead after 40. But Lochlan Tetarenko and DuPont scored less than four minutes apart in the third to tie the game and force OT. The game looked as though it would head to a shootout but Ethan Watkins found the back of the net for the fourth time this season to give CIHA a 5-4 win over their Calgary rivals. Nate Stevens (42/46) made 42 saves in the win.
St. Mary’s Academy (2) vs RHA Winnipeg (3) Female U18 Prep
Thyia Delorme opened the scoring late in the first with her second goal of the season. Kaitlyn Harvey (2G) tied the game midway through the second but goals by Tori Bear and Katie Anhalt (1G, 1A) 1:21 apart gave RHA Winnipeg a lead heading into the third period. Harvey would strike again 2:44 into the third to bring her team back within one but Bailey Schwartz (45/47) stood tall to secure a RHA Winnipeg win. Mimi Ferreira (30/33) made 30 saves in defeat.
