GAME DAY RECAP: January 27-29, 2026 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep 

A tightly contested first saw RHA Kelowna grab a 1-0 lead as Carson Smith scored his 14th goal of the season 4:57 in. Defenseman Linkin Stadnek tied the game with 1:44 left in the second, beating Asher Netherton (25/26) for his fourth of the season. After a back-and-forth opening 40, RHA Kelowna took over in the third outshooting OHA 17-4. This onslaught resulted in an even strength goal from Porter Rossi and a power play marker from Louis James Prystupa to give their team the eventual 3-1 win. Linden Sobocan (35/38) faced 35 shots in net in the loss.  

Edge School (2/OT) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep 

Carsten Leyerzapf (27/28) and Braxton Gibson (38/40) kept clean sheets through 20 as the game remained tied until Clayton Candy scored his first goal of the season for Edge 5:39 into the second. Edge would hold the 1-0 lead until late when an Edge penalty gave Cohenn Rotar a penalty shot opportunity with just 36 seconds remaining to tie the game. Rotar made no mistake, sending the game to overtime. In OT Darius Odermatt, Shyloh Benko and Ashton McCann combine for a nice passing play, with Odermatt burying the OT winner midway through the extra frame as Edge took home the 2-1 win.  

Prairie Hockey Academy (5) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U17 

Conner Aldag (36/36) made 36 saves for his third shutout of the season to backstop Prairie to a 5-0 win over Notre Dame. Prairie special teams was the story of the first period as Kase Gellner (1G, 2A) scored the eventual game winner on the power play 6:38 in and Soren Hayden (2G) scored shorthanded less than two minutes later. Jake Myhre (1G, 2A) and Tristan Reimer scored back-to-back even strength goals 10 seconds apart midway through the second to give Prairie a 4-0 lead after 40. Hayden would add his second of the game midway through the third to round out the scoring and give Prairie a 5-0 win.  

South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep 

Mason Bryska hit double digit goals on the season as he gave SAHA a 1-0 lead late in the first with a power play marker. CIHA took over in the second as Liam Nycholat (2G, 1A) tied the game 9:21 into the period. Jaret Otto (1G, 1A) and Nycholat then scored 32 seconds apart before a late period tally by Ryder Lefaivre saw CIHA take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission. SAHA wouldn’t go away quietly as Nash Davis and Kyan Vansandt scored power play markers in the first half of the frame to make it a one goal game. However, George Matheos gave CIHA some breathing room four minutes later and Ty Tunke (28/31) finished with 28 saves to secure the 5-3 win.

Ontario Hockey Academy (6) vs CIH Academy (2) East U17 Prep

A great individual effort by Daniel Fuchs gave CIH Academy a 1-0 lead and the first goal of the Rockland, ON showcase. Elliott Sullivan (1G, 1A) tied the game late in the period, beating Shahrukh Levac (34/40) for his fifth goal of the season. OHA would take their first lead of the hockey game early in the second as Finlay O’Neil and Mykyta Staskevych (2G, 2A) each found the back of the net. Leon Yamaguchi brought CIH Academy back within one midway through the second but that was as close as they would get. Kingston Dery (2G) scored twice in 16 seconds to start the third and Staskevych added his second of the game late, while shorthanded, to hit double digit goals on the season and give his team the 6-2 win. Matvii Kulish (26/28) made 26 saves to record the win. 

CIH Academy (1) vs Ontario Hockey Academy (8) East U18 Prep 

Maxim Ius (3G, 1A) scored his first goal of the season 1:16 in as OHA grabbed an early lead. Matis Lacroix tied the game six minutes later but it was all OHA from there as Malinoa Meiler and Matvei Maklakov (2G) gave their team a 3-1 lead heading into the break. Ius added his second of the game as the lead grew to 4-1 heading into the third and final period. In the third, Maklakov scored his second of the afternoon to give OHA a comfortable 5-1 lead. That lead grew even further as Simon Leblanc added a power play marker 1:04 later and Nathaniel Noah (1G, 3A) tallied a shorthanded goal less than five minutes after that. Ius completed the hat-trick with his second power play goal of the game just a few minutes later, giving OHA the convincing 8-1 win. Kye Johnson (26/27) made 26 saves for his third win of the year.

Fort Erie International Hockey Academy U17 (8) vs King Heights Academy (3) East U18 Prep 

Fort Erie’s U17 team would make a guest appearance into the U18 division Thursday and would show no signs of early nerves as Charles-Antoine Racette (2G), Etienne Guo (2G) and Matvei Zakharov (1G,1A) each found the back of the net in the first to give their team a 3-0 lead. It was more of the same in the second as Zachary Girard (2G) scored twice in a span of 16 seconds, 3:07 into the period to extend the Fort Erie lead to 5-0. Lukah Ceh would het King Heights on the board midway through the game but Racette and Guo each scored their second of the game 58 seconds apart to make it 7-1. Tyler Koss would add his fifth of the season with four seconds left in the period to give King Heights a faint glimmer of hope going into the third. Nicholas Startseff and defenseman Alex McMahon (1G, 3A) traded goals late in the third to round out the scoring in what ended as an 8-3 win for Fort Erie’s U17 squad. Daniel Geshev (18/21) and Nils Huber (40/48) were in net for their respective teams.

Bourget College (6) vs Ulysse Academie (1) East U18 Prep 

In a battle of the third and fourth ranked teams in the East it was fourth place Bourget (8-7-0) who came out on top with a convincing 6-1 win over Ulysse (11-5-0). Eloi Verdule opened the scoring with his first of the season with 21 seconds left on the clock to put Bourget ahead after 20. Keifer Pion-Robin (2G) and Maxemile Richard scored 35 seconds apart midway through the second and Carter Verdone added his third of the season 2:30 later as Bourget held a 4-0 advantage. Marc-Antoine Daigle would halt the run and get Ulysse on the board with 1:16 remaining in the second, beating Samuel Pitcher (26/27) for his fifth of the season. Third period goals from Malik Roy and Pion-Robin gave Bourget a 6-1 win, their sixth victory in their last seven games. Benjamin Pilon (29/35) faced 35 shots in net for Ulysse.

Edge School (11) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U15 

Kyden Brockman (3G, 1A) and defenseman Josh Pomeroy (3G) each recorded hat-tricks to lead Edge to an 11-0 win over Notre Dame. Defenseman Van Martschuk (2G) added two assists while Jake Sander (1G, 2A) chipped in with three points. Carter Gideon (20/20) made 20 saves for his second shutout of the season while Sammy Brushett (48/59) faced 59 shots in the loss.

Fort Erie International Academy (5) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks (2) East U18 Prep 

Having scored twice earlier in the day for his OHA U17 team, Mykyta Staskevych (2G) opened the scoring for the OHA Mavericks 9:37 into the first period. Yuri Baunov would tie the game 10 minutes later with his 13th goal of the season. George Tagirov (1G, 1A) gave Fort Erie their first lead of the game 9:48 into the second as he beat Adam Voracek (30/35) shorthanded. Thomas Harvey (2G) doubled the lead less than two minutes later as Fort Erie took a 3-1 advantage into the intermission. Riley Cave scored the second Fort Erie shorthanded goal of the game 1:14 into the third before Harvey added a power play marker 10 minutes later. Staskevych would add his second of the game, and fourth of the day, a few minutes later but Demitry Gikas (27/29) shut the door the rest of the way to clinch the Fort Erie victory. 

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U17 Prep 

Cole Hamakawa scored 5-on-5 and Kaius Millan scored less than two minutes later as RHA Kelowna grabbed a 2-0 lead midway through the first period. Grady Monsen would get OHA on the board with 3:10 left in the period, scoring his third goal of the season. OHA would tie the game 2:16 into the second as Cooper Giarraputo beat Matthew Palmer (35/37) for his sixth of the year. The two teams would remain even at 2-2 for 23 more minutes until Jack Leslie (1G, 1A) hit double digit goals 5:35 into the third, giving RHA Kelowna the eventual game winner. Palmer outdueled Tyson Kuiack (22/25) the rest of the way and RHA Kelowna held on for the 3-2 victory.

STAR Hockey Academy (2) vs North Shore Warriors (3/SO) U17 

STAR took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission as Brody Lukinbill (1G, 1A) and Ronin Brunner found the back of the net on Ben Boudreau (31/33). Mason Strong got North Shore on the board and within one late in the second period as the home side looked to mount a comeback. Easton Fowler tied the game midway through the third as the North Shore comeback was alive and well as the two teams headed to overtime. After OT solved nothing, Fowler completed the North Shore come-from-behind victory as he beat Jacob Gaskell (40/42) in the fourth round of the shootout to give his team a 3-2 win.
