CIHA lost to OHA Edmonton Friday, hoping Sunday against Edge could be their third straight win over the same opponents and a bounce-back following their loss to OHAE. Both teams traded goals in the first period, and from there on out, it looked as if those two goals had destined the game for overtime. However, with less than 90 seconds to play, CIHA mounted a counterattack that culminated with an excellent shot from Rhett Davis finding the back of the net and standing as the game-winner in CIHA’s 2-1 win.

From there, YHA’s Coby Kidwell took over. Kidwell stopped all 18 shots he faced in the first, all seven he faced in the second, and eventually 15 of 16 shots in the third for Yale. BWC beat him once, but Kidwell ended with 40 saves on 41 shots to earn the win. Yale added a couple empty-netters for good measure to prevail 4-1.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) U15

OHA Edmonton (6) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (7/OT) U17
OHA Edmonton and the Northern Alberta Xtreme’s U17 clash on Sunday evening had the trajectory of a couple of energetic kids playing on a seesaw. NAX took a 2-0 lead thanks to Ethan Candlish’s (1G, 1A) goal and assist to start, but one powerplay for NAX tore that lead down. Tucker Porter (1G, 2A) and Nate McRorie (3G, 1A) scored shorthanded on that one penalty kill to tie the game, and like a seesaw does, the game tilted completely in the other favour. McRorie scored again to help OHAE lead 4-2, but it was again two quick-fire goals to change everything. NAX’s Holter Lefthand scored two goals in 15 seconds to tie the game at four. The big-time swings didn’t cease, with OHAE taking two more leads and NAX finding two more equalizers. The game deserved overtime, and just past the halfway point, Vaughn Livadney (1G, 2A) stole the puck from behind the net and found Ethan Lobay on the doorstep to bury the game-winner and giving NAX a thrilling 7-6 win.
