Yale wins Bantam Prep Championship

PENTICTON, B.C. – Kolby Hay (Abbotsford, BC) turned aside 20 shots as the Yale Hockey Academy prevailed with a 3-1 victory over the Northern Alberta Xtreme to capture the 2019 Canadian Sport School Hockey League Bantam Prep Division Championship.

Brayden Edwards (Abbotsford, BC) and Carter Streek (Kamloops, BC) each finished with a goal and assist for Yale, while Brayden Schuurman’s (Abbotsford, BC) tally midway through the second period would hold up as the game winner.

Billal Noori (Edmonton, AB) netted the lone goal of the game for Northern Alberta, while netminder Erick Roest (Lethbridge, AB) kept his team in it, stopping 50-of-53 shots fired his way.

The victory marks the second Bantam Prep Division Championship for the Yale Hockey Academy, becoming the first CSSHL program to win the division on two occasions after first winning it in 2015-16.
