Yale Teammates Sign WHL SPAs

A pair of Yale Hockey Academy teammates have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreements (SPA) after being selected in the 2021 WHL Draft.

Selected in the third round, 66th overall by the Everett Silvertips, Jesse Heslop is also in his third CSSHL season, and second with Yale Hockey Academy. He joined the program at the U15 Prep level, recording three goals and four assists in five games during the 2020/21 season. In 15 U17 Prep games this year, he has 17 goals and 22 assists. The Nanaimo, BC, forward joined the CSSHL in 2019/20 with Pacific Coast Hockey Academy, recording 31 points in 27 U15 Prep games.

Heslop made his WHL debut with the Silvertips on December 20, 2021, becoming the first player from the 2021 WHL Draft to score a WHL goal.

Chase Valliant, who is in his third Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) season, and first with Yale Hockey Academy, was selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the third round, 58th overall. In 10 U17 Prep games the Surrey, BC forward has scored 17 goals to go along with 11 assists. Last year Valliant played for the BWC Academy recording seven goals and two assists in four games. In 2019/20 he won a CSSHL U15 League Championship with West Van Academy. He would finish that season with 22 goals and 20 assists in in 21 games, and an additional 14 points in 5 playoff games.
