Sam Ward has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement (SPA) with the Swift Current Broncos, joining his older brother Mathew Ward.
Ward spent three seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL), joining the league in 2018/19 with the Delta Hockey Academy U15 team, recording 6 points in 14 games. He would join the West Van Academy U16 Prep team as an underage player in 2019/20, adding 4 points in 36 games. The Kamloops, BC defenseman would re-join Delta for the 2020/21 season, finishing with three points in four U16 Prep games.
Ward would join the Merritt Centennials for the 2021/22 British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) season, scoring 3 goals and adding 6 assists in 37 games.
