Three CSSHL Student-Athletes to Join Capitals

Three Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) student-athletes have signed to play in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Cowichan Valley Capitals for the 2021/22 season.

Zachary Brault, Sebastian Hamming, and Maguire Ratzlaff will all join the Capitals next season for their rookie seasons in the BCHL.

Brault and Ratzlaff were teammates this past season with Shawnigan Lake School’s U18 Prep team, having both spent previous time with the program.

Brault joined Shawnigan in 2019/20, playing in 32 CSSHL games while recording 6 goals and 15 assists. The defenseman is originally from St-Lambert, QC.

A defenseman from Edmonton, AB, Hamming has spent three seasons in the CSSHL with St. George’s School playing the 2018/19 campaign at the U16 Prep level, before joining the U18 Prep team the following two years. In 72 career games he has recorded 40 points.

Now in his fourth season in the CSSHL, Ratzlaff joined Shawnigan in 2017/18 playing for their U15 Prep team. He would spend the next two seasons playing U17 Prep, winning a CSSHL League Championship in 2018/19. In 69 CSSHL games the Abbotsford, BC forward had 40 career points, including 22 in 17 games in 2019/20.
