Three CSSHL student athletes named to Canadian U18 team

Hockey Canada has unveiled the 23 players named to the Canadian National Women’s Under-18 team that will compete at the 2020 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, scheduled for Dec. 26-Jan. 2 in Bratislava.

Among the 23 players named, three are current CSSHL student athletes:

Anne Cherkowski (Coldstream, BC)
Sarah Paul (West Kelowna, BC)
Sarah Wozniewicz (Cochrane, AB)

Cherkowski, 17, is currently in her fourth season attending the Pursuit of Excellence. In five games this season, she has netted 14 points (6-8-14) and overall has 142 points (69-73-142) in 72 career CSSHL regular season games. The five-foot-seven forward won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2019 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship and is a two-time CSSHL Female Prep Division champion. Cherkowski was named the 2018 CSSHL Female Prep Freshman of the Year, an award handed out to the top first-year midget student.

Paul, 16, is currently in her first season attending the Pursuit of Excellence and fourth overall in the CSSHL. In eight games this season, she has registered 13 points (11-2-13) and has accumulated 91 points (60-31-91) in 90 career CSSHL games.

Wozniewicz, 16, is currently in her third season attending the Edge School. In nine games this season, she has recorded 17 points (10-7-17). In 51 career CSSHL games, she has netted 65 points (43-22-65). The five-foot-seven forward was named the 2019 CSSHL Female Prep Freshman of the Year.
