Three CSSHL student athletes earn silver at U18 Women’s World Championship

Three Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) student athletes have earned a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2020 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Bratislava.

Anne Cherkowski (Coldstream, B.C.), Sarah Paul (West Kelowna, B.C.) and Sarah Wozniewicz (Cochrane, Alta.) will each be bringing home a silver medal after a thrilling 2-1 overtime loss to the United States in the Gold Medal Game on Thursday.

Cherkowski, 17, is currently in her fourth season attending the Pursuit of Excellence. She picked up an assist against Russia and Finland, before scoring her first of the tournament against the United States to close out the preliminary round.

Paul, 16, is currently in her first season attending the Pursuit of Excellence and fourth overall in the CSSHL. She tallied once in the opener against Russia and then scored the lone Canadian goal in the Gold Medal Game, while also being named the Player of the Game for Canada.

Wozniewicz, 16, is currently in her third season attending the Edge School. She had one assist in the preliminary round game against Finland.
