Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (PMHA) student-athlete Carson Carels has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Prince George Cougars. The Cougars selected Carels in the first round, 15th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.
Carels has spent the last two seasons in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) with the Pilot Mound U15 Prep team. In 2021/22 the Cypress River, MB defenseman finished third in team scoring with 19 points in 26 games. This season Carels led all PMHA skaters with 22 assists while finishing third in team scoring with 32 points in just 20 games.
Carels would add an additional 12 points in 4 CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship Consolation games.
